Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

PJ was a bit urky about showing the 3D footage, so he just showed regular FPS stuff....

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

How was the camera work? I remember hearing a whole bunch of whining before about the FPS footage and what not. Any thoughts?

Footage looked awesome to me. Seriously, it was 12 mins of goosebumps for me. It was worth staying up all night for.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I'll post more about it after I get back from dinner. Just what comes to mind because some of it was a blur.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Doesn't The Hobbit basically tie directly in to LOTRs' (albeit a bit later).

:dunno

:nana:

True......YEARS later.

Yeah, exactly.

I thought they were adding things that weren't originally in the Hobbit to connect to LOTR anyway, like the inclusion of Frodo and an older narrating Bilbo.

To me, two Hobbit films felt like too much but a possible third? I like this world as much as the next fan but that's a little bit excessive for three hour films. The Hobbit isn't even as large or vast as LOTR anyway.

Frodo is there to connect the two by narration of Bilbo's story. I don't think The Hobbit is going to lead right into Fellowship.

If it was, they could've had Aragorn in it. :(

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

The Fellowship's prologue is a couple thousand years before the events of the Fellowship and it connects everything together nicely? :huh

I figure The Hobbit begins with Bilbo, Frodo and "There and Back Again". That and the story of the Hobbit, as well as Elrond, Galadriel, Legolas, Saruman and key players like Gandalf and Gollum should be enough to connect the Hobbit to the LOTR trilogy.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

You guys are missing my point, but I'll just drop it anyway.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I get the point. :lol

You just wan't to see Viggo Mortenson ride into the sunset on his faithful steed again. :lol

Kind of the feeling I'm getting too. :dunno

There is more than enough to connect the two. More than anything - the finding of the ring.

As far as actual events that happen between the events of the Hobbit and LOTR, if we got a movie of that, it would pretty much have to be complete fan fiction.

Do not want.

And like I said, if it's just about wanting more movies based on Tolkien's work, there is a great wealth to draw from. Honestly, a movie based on the story of "Beren and Luthien" would be epic beyond words. And although it doesn't directly connect to LOTR and the Hobbit, it is in the same world. Also, Aragorn refers to the story (in LOTR) as it mirrors the Aragorn/Arwen story.

Details!!!

Alright some of what I remember.

  • You got to see some of "riddles in the dark play out."
  • Stone giant tossing a stone at the reveling party
  • Legolas coming out of the leaves threatening to shoot the dwarves.
  • Tauriel killing some orcs
  • Scene between gtg and galadriel on why he choose a hobbit for this adventure
  • Bilbo almost telling gtg he found the one ring
  • The three trolls fighting with the traveling party.
  • Thorin explaining why it's important to get the treasure.
  • Some random events from lake town.

That's what I can remember right now

Awesome stuff.

Had to look up who "Tauriel" is.

Also, what's the "reveling party" where the stone giants were? They should be on the Misty Mountains throwing stones during a storm.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Sorry I meant traveling party. :lol iPad typing on a
Lane didn't work there. :lol the scene appeared to have a storm going on.
