Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

In what form?

They won't get the statue licence for a few years if at all, as Weta have only just begun with it.
Why not get into Weta? Again, if you like something, buy it if you can. It's called collecting!

I was never a huge fan of Weta when it comes to statues of "people". The Thorin statue looks really good though.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I tell you thinking about this film again being in 3 parts with possible 9 hours on screen brings chills...extended cut to 10 1/2 even more...I would love to see Tom Bomadil and a Wright in this as well when they Journey to Rivendell...fingers crossed....I also hope they show Bilbo on top of the Trees in Mirkwood with the large black butterflies flying across the tree tops...with the Misty mountains away on one side of the forest and the Lonely mountain in the distance on the other...That was my favorite image from the book...plus the video game had a similar scene..

I'm with ya it's going to be what I expect to be another awesome journey through middle-earth. They can skip Tom B for me as I don't care for that part in the lotr much and he would be totally out of place in these movies. The wrights would be cool but again totally out of plaice for this story.

Just a freakin glimpse is all I ask...not dinner with him and his wife...LOL...Just even old man willow walk by with glimpse of wraith or shadow of even....Have Tom tell them that place is evil and to keep on the move...something like that....takes 30 seconds or less

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I wouldn't count on seeing ole Tom. Like I said I won't complain as his character in the lotr made no sense in the book (hence why it was left out of the movie) and even a walk by doesn't make sense in this.

Making sense or not I want as much of the LOTR/Hobbit as I can get!...taking a look at what three trolls are doing didnt make sense either...LOl...even going to Smaugs lair....I know I wouldnt wanna be there

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Well, you don't just jam stuff in it because you can and thankfully Jackson gets that. He'll add stuff that enhances the background and works within the story. The trolls and smaug don't make sense? Ok.......

LOL...No more posting for me after 1/2 bottle of wine...LOL...If Jackson can remove stuff then he can add...He did add a couple of things too in LOTR that IMHO should not have been

Another thought...It would be interesting if they explain even maybe with Flashbacks the history of Dragons and such...it would bring up the first age though...Gandalf when asked about the Balrog said it was a demon of the ancient world in FOTR...in the Extended Ed Legolas actually mentions "Balrog of Morgoth"...a definite 1st age mention...hmm

That explains it. :lol yeah, he will add and subtract stuff for sure. We already know he has added some and I'm sure it will work like with lotr. I agree there was something in ROTK that I still don't care for

More than likely they'll show something about smaugs background. They got around that though as I think Legolas says that line in the book.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

One thing about the LOTR trilogy, I really enjoyed going to the theaters every holiday season for 3 years to see it with family. It was something we really looked forward to. With the Hobbit movies that same feeling is coming back.

I wish it was the Christmas movie this year, instead of opening earlier. I almost always go to a movie Christmas day.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

This movie got me pumped for LOTR. Went back and watched EE for all three - first time seeing Return of the King Extended Edtion. Good stuff. Ending still gets me

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Just don't go watch it until Christmas. Problem solved. :D

I'm going to the midnight showing! Then probably again in 2D the following Sunday with Mom.

I'll have to see my Hugh sometime too. :D

If there's a theater around that will be showing it in 48fps, then maybe I'll see it again.

Actually, the Christmas day opening movies are pretty blah.

"Hey kids! We're going to the ghetto $1 theatres to watch Hobbit! Just ignore the drug dealing, the oral copulation in the back, that weird dude pulling a Rubens, the smoking couple two rows down and that urine reeking homeless man next to us who paid with pennies from the fountain, who's just looking for a warm place to sleep. THIS IS GONNA BE GREAT!...........is that a condom stuck to the bottom of my shoe?"
