Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

We haven't had those for a long time. We have bargain matinees and economy days.

I take it they don't do any upkeep on those theaters. :monkey4

Not much money to be had in places like that. Zero overhead from the $1 movies and I don't see people forking out $3.50 for a soda and another $3.50 for a popcorn to watch a $1 movie. :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I really hope they incorporate bits of the silmarillion like they did in fellowship of the ring to these films.

I want Balrog mentioned, Dragons origin, history of Khazadum,Troll kept Swords(Gondolin) and history of the Wizards....I hope!

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I don't expect much of that. It would have to be stuff that fits within the story and give depth to it otherwise I doubt it.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I have to admit, though I don't expect it at all, I would be giddy to see an army of Balrogs facing against some Elven armies.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

That would be cool. If they show anything with moria at all expect to see a Balrog as he does come into play.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

That would be awesome if the Balrog showed up. In my humble opinion, one of the most visually bad ass looking characters of all time.

If it is mentioned by the dwarves the Balrog will be called Durin's Bane...Dain told this to Thrain after the Orc Dwarf war victory....The Balrog was traditionally called the Elf's Bane...

I understand but if these films are 3 hours each with EEs being longer, I have no clue what he will fill the storyline with...I have no fear that these films will be great but my biggest fear is that Jackson will be adding things not in the books...That I have always had a problem with just like with a few things he added to LOTR TRilogy

The scenarios in the book are rather short, whereas, in the movie they'll be longer, such as the battle with Smaug. In LotR, the battle of Helm's Deep was pretty short compared to the movie.

Even with some battles lengthened I cant see a 9 to 10 1/2 film...Not complaining though ...just thinking out loud

There will be plenty from the appendices but only stuff that fits within the narrative. As far as adding stuff I didn't mind most of it but a couple things I'd did.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

about 4 more months...for me anyway it will be the most anticipated film for a very long time...maybe ever
