Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

the Misty Mountains song will be one of those memorable scenes in the movie for sure.
It will be like the calm before the storm, when you see these guys singing it will be this huge bond between them and you know the hairs on your arms and neck will get goosebumps.
Then once they set off from the Shire, you know that that scene with them singing will be the last time of their innocence.

This will probrably be the scene where Bilbo gets the goosebumps and makes his decision for adventure to go with them...JMHO...I know it would be for me

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Wait, is that the equivalence of the Enya "May it Be" song for Fellowship, "Gollum's Song" in Two Towers and "Into the West" by Annie Lennox for Return of the King?

If so, pretty damn good.

Yup. Article says it is going on the end credits ala "May It Be" et al. :D

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Good to hear.

Really looking forward to this film.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

The end credit song is pretty good. It's as good as the others at least.

Those pictures come from one of the new books. It's full of great stuff but I'm not sure of the legality of posting nearly every page.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Cool, I'd been looking forward to hearing the full version. While not as powerful as the others, it suits the beginning adventure. I'm sure the later credit songs will be a little heavier.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I had a go at transcribing the whole song this time.

[verse 1]
Far over the Misty Mountains rise
Leave us standing upon the height
What was before, we see once more
Is our kingdom, a distant light

[verse 2]
Fiery mountain beneath Aman
The words unspoken we'll be there soon
For home a song, that echoes on
And all who find us, will know the tune

[chorus 1]
Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven't seen the back of us yet
We'll fight as long as we live
All eyes on the hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain core
We'll ride in the gathering storm
Until we get our long forgotten gold

[verse 3]
We lay under the Misty Mountains cold
In slumbers deep and dreams of gold
We must awake, our lives to make
And in the darkness, a torch we hold

[verse 4]
From long ago when lanterns burned
Until this day our hearts have yearned
A fate unknown, the Arkenstone
What was stolen, must be returned

[Bridge]
We must away ere break of day
To find our song for heart and soul

[chorus 2]
Some folk we never forget
Some kind we never forgive
Haven't seen the end of it yet
We'll fight as long as we live
All eyes on the hidden door
To the Lonely Mountain core
We'll ride in the gathering storm
Until we get our long forgotten gold

[outro]
Far away the Misty Mountains cold

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

How can there be any spoilers for this movie?

All I can say is that I haven't had this much anticipation for a movie since return of the king.

It's only been 75 years, give people a chance to read it first!:rotfl

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

only 1 month and a day to go!...for USA anyway

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Me too. Misty Mountains and An Ancient Enemy have been my favorites so far.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I was surprised to find out that Howard Shore didn't write the Misty Mountain song/music that I've loved ever since that first trailer.
