Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Love it... Very distinct sounding from LOTR, but retaining the flavor at the same time. :rock

I wish Misty Mountains was longer than 1:42 though. :monkey2

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I have a HFR version a 100 miles away, but not at the theater I would have preferred...will have to decide cause I am very curious - will probably do it, I am sure

Right different enough to be its own but similar enough to gather instant emotion.

I was also hoping it would be longer. Maybe in the extended version, eh?

I loved the nostalgia punch in the face when the Rivendell and Lothlorien themes appeared in a couple of tracks. Neil Finn's Song of the Lonely Mountain sounds like it'll be amazing, also.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I transcribed part of the closing credit song. There were a few words I couldn't quite make out though.

Sometime(?) we never forgive
Haven't seen the back of us yet
We'll fight as long as we live
All eyes on the hidden(?)
To the Lonley Mountain gold(?)
We'll ride in the gathering storm
Until we get our long forgotten gold

We lay under the Misty Mountains cold
In slumbers deep and dreams of gold
We must awake
Our lives to make
And in the darkness
A torch we hold

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I get chills when I hear the Misty Mountains theme. Heard it again tonight. Might be my favorite track.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

the Misty Mountains song will be one of those memorable scenes in the movie for sure.
It will be like the calm before the storm, when you see these guys singing it will be this huge bond between them and you know the hairs on your arms and neck will get goosebumps.
Then once they set off from the Shire, you know that that scene with them singing will be the last time of their innocence.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Don't know if this qualifies a a spoiler or not since it is in the trailer, but I will protect innocent eyes that would prefer not to know...

In the trailer it looks like there is some kind of giant hurling rocks at the party. I dont remember this in the book, was there something in the appendices about this or did Peter Jackson just tae it upon himself to add one to the story?]

"When he peeped out in the lightning-flashes, he saw that across the valley the stone-giants were out and were hurling rocks at one another for a game, and catching them, and tossing them down into the darkness where they smashed among the trees far below, or splintered into little bits with a bang."

"They could hear the giants guffawing and shouting all over the mountainsides."

"If we don't get blown off or drowned, or struck by lightning, we shall be picked up by some giant and kicked sky-high for a football."

"I must see if I can't find a more or less decent giant to block it up again," said Gandalf

Definitely in The Hobbit, but like everything in this very short book it will be expanded!

Thank You Enthus, it has been almost 30 years since I read this book, makes me want to pick it up one more time before I see the movie.
