Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Not yet. I'll have to ask when we might have these up for sale.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

"Like all unexpected journeys, there are a few pitfalls along the way, most notably the tangential subplot surrounding bumbling wizard Radagast the Brown (Sylvester McCoy), whose buffoonery at times descends into Jar Jar Binks territory."

Ouch.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I've got it on record from a couple friends who have seen it that said this comparison is totally off base. That he doesn't have a deep subplot but he's not even close to jar jar.

I bet he steps in poop and is all like "Exsqueeze me!".

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

That's really the only problem I've had since the beginning of filming, the inclusion of Radagast the Brown and the weird animals and sleigh pulling bunnies. It just looks like straight up weird ****.

It doesn't surprise me if people have fault with it or if it comes off goofy. But if that's the only negative thing about it, who cares. I know Radagast was mentioned a few times in the books and will be crucial to the Saruon reveal, but I can't help but wishing that it was just Gandalf and Saruman in Middle Earth (and that we never see the rest of the order). Why not just have Saruman discover Saruon? It'd make sense that he'd later be tempted and turn evil. I don't want to be biased before I see the films but McCoy as Radagast struck me as off as soon as I saw the second trailer. Then when pics popped up of him I was like, "huh?"

You can sort of tell he's going to be bumbling and a buffoon.

We'll see though, I'm sure he won't even be in it often so it's not like a character, if he is bad, would ruin a film.

Saruman looks great, so does Gollum. I'm warming up to the Goblins.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Saruman looks great!

There was so much fantastic Orc makeup in the LOTR films--are they just going all CGI this time?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

No there is a mix but it cgi was used for several this time.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Are there any side by side comparisons of Gollum in the Rings trilogy vs. Gollum in the Hobbit? I'd like to see the difference in CGI then and now.
