Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I haven't watched any sneak peeks or trailers since the 2nd one.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

On the way home from getting my son from school we saw a big Hobbit poster, and he asked who my favorite character was in the LOTR. Truly a difficult question.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

1. Legolas for pure badassery.
2. Sam for companionship
3. Aragorn for Bravery

My favorite characters. But it truly is a tough question.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Got tickets for midnight long booked and then That Saturday going to see it in IMAX 3d 48fps. Will find out just how different that is.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

It was more a question of why would you expect him to look vastly different? They're not going to reinvent the wheel and especially so when they're going off how Tolkien described him (also how he has been drawn by Howe and Lee).

It might just be my old eyes and imagination, but the Hobbit Gollum DOES look a bit different to me than the LOTR Gollum. I knew that some of the facial features of Elijah Wood (esp. the eyes) were reflected in Gollum for LOTR. I could swear that the Hobbit Gollum reflects Andy Serkis slightly. Am I the only one thinking this?

He looks different because he still had possession of the ring which made him younger looking(for 500years not bad)...he aged after losing the ring plus was tortured by Sauron too...just like Bilbo started to age after giving up the ring to Frodo

You can see serkis in there maybe even a little more than before. What I was saying was why expect a different design from Lord of the Rings. He does look a little younger but mostly just the design looks more refined.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Samwise was always my wifes favorite character.
Mine is hard to say so I'll go with the true dynamic duo of Legolas and Gimli. :lecture

Did you see that Appendices scene of the Orc army vs Dwarf army outside of Moria from over 100 something years past...This is looking so freakin great!...In over 45 years I have never anticipated a film more in my life than this one...
