Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

just got back, loved the movie, it was better than I had expected. From what little previews I'd seen I did not think I was going to like Bilbo, but the guy playing him is so awesome. I need to look him up because I thought he was brilliant. Not only his line delivery, but his expressions... just caught me off guard, did not think I'd enjoy this as much as I did. I will definitely see this again before its out of theatres.

You need to watch Sherlock.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

It just occurred to me that Watson and Sherlock are playing the main protagonist and antagonist in The Hobbit. :lol

I saw it in 3D IMAX last night. Loved it. Yes it was a little slow at times but it was so fun going back to middle earth. IMO the HFR was great and bad at the same time. Some of the fighting sequences the dwarves moved so fast it was hard to see what all was going on.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, was just looking him up, the only things hes been in that I've seen are Shaun of the Dead and HotFuzz; I've seen both quite a few times, hes just not ringing any bells.

And yikes! hes 5'6", barely need any movie magic to make him a Hobbit!

HEY! My father was 5'6".

:D

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

After the Quest for Erebor, Balin along with many dwarves went back to Moria to reclaim it. Obviously it only lasted a few years but no one knew that he had died until the Fellowship stumbled upon his grave.

It was lost but after the Dwarves regained Erebor and after the 5 armies battle which displaced the Orcs Balin formed a new colony in Moria trying to get back what was lost...unfortunately after a few years The Orcs/trolls came back...plus the Balrog reawakened

wow is this in the book? in lotr or hobbit? i dont remember about it at all.... maybe i really should reread the books again been ages.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Main reason why i liked the beginning. This kept racing through my head throughout the Shire scenes.

"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door," he used to say. You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to."

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Picked up a copy of the special edition soundtrack today. Wonderful stuff.

Yeah, the OS is very good. Listen to it a few times and you'll start to pick it out when you watch the movies the next time.

This is in the ROTK Appendices as well as the Council of Elrond chapter in FOTR...Gloin was mentioning it plus was one of the reasons The dwaves went to the council and why Gimli went ...to hopefully find out what happened to Balin and company
