Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Sounds really good from what I've read so far - really looking forward to seeing this. Not long to wait now! :yess:

Agree about the Rivendell/Narsil bits being left out - after seeing them in the trailers was a bit disappointed that they were left out of the theatrical version - still suppose that's what Extended Editions are for!!

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I agree it was a bummer that got left out. As I said the Rivendell stuff and the extra white council stuff are just gold. For me they took an already awesome movie and improved it. There are several moments that have been tweaked just a bit improving the movie even more. I think you're going to love it.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Just watched all 13 minutes, very underwhelming. Especially compared to the Extended LOTR movies. But it is what it is, not missing anything here folks.

One or two really cool scenes but thats it. (glad most of it was left out)

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I don't know. I really liked the stuff we got. I really feel it improved an already pretty sweet movie. A lot of the comments I've seen have said the stuff added was equally as good as what we got with the EE of LOTR. Now, I agree its still not quite as good as the LOTR films but the the book isn't either.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

It was ok. But not really worth the wait to hold out for EE IMO. (unless you're into all the DVD extras etc.)

I can't say I agree with the first part. The Appendices stuff is really good.

Am I right in saying this is the most prettiest film I've ever seen? there's so many scenes my jaw nearly dropped. The clarity of the film. The sunsets, Rivendell, it's endless. I've never seen The Shire so green.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Well....it's your opinion, so you're not wrong...per-say...but I couldn't agree with you. It looked OK at best, thanks largely to the overuse of blue screen and the camera frame rate.

Visually, not a great looking a film for me. Some bits looked nice though.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Overuse of blue screen? please explain…

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I don't really need to explain. I didn't really care for all the blue screen/green screen work.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

How much longer is the extended edition from the regular edition are the extra scenes beneficial to the film?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

13 mins of footage along with some tweaks to scenes. As a whole I think it makes an already cool film even cooler. The added stuff in Hobbiton and Rivendell are really good stuff. The other items add some nice character moments.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Wow, only 13 extra minutes. That's a good thing actually. Movie's already so damn long. :lol

Will definitely be picking it up tomorrow.

Do you have to buy 3D to get the statue?

No... they have a standard bluray version also.

Cool.

I see them on Amazon now. Only a $10 difference and you get the standard bluray with both. My sister-in-law has a 3D TV and I guess it's possible I might watch this on it.

Gonna check Best Buy tomorrow. We'll see what they have in stock.

I don't really need to explain. I didn't really care for all the blue screen/green screen work.

Unless they don't know what blue/green screen work is?

If they don't, it's the process used to add in GCI backgrounds. The actors perform infront of a large, literal green screen.
