Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

As much as I want this - I'm going to hold out for the inevitable EE box set of the entire film trilogy.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Just watched the TE again today. Absolutely love it from beginning to end.

Watched again last night. Love this film! Glad I didn't wait for the EE as I've watched this movie enough times to have paid less than a buck a viewing.

Now bring on the EE! Can't wait for the new scenes.

13 minutes? 13 minutes?

Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattt?

Oh well.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Originally I believe the EE was to have about 25 extra minutes. The thing is, with the LOTR EE's I only liked about half the stuff he added back in.

So maybe this time around he decided to only put the *good* stuff in. :yess:

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Jackson did say originally he had 20-25 mins. Some of that may end up in film 2 as flashback or just didn't aide the story. I'd love to have more than 13 mins as I loved what we got with the LOTR EE but I'll take what we can get.

Some footage have been put in H2 fact. Making this a trilogy did that

I'm speaking of some 20-25 minutes that was supposedly going to be placed back into this. Of course some things that were filmed for film 1 originally are in 2. That fact is well known.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I always assumed they were going to put the High Fells/Nazgul Tomb scene into the extended version but it seems that that will now be in DOS, it was probably determined to be too important to the story to have it locked away in a version of the film that some people may not see.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

The High Fells scene was suppossed to be done after Gandalf left Rivendell. Gandalf went to investigate what happened to the Witch-King of Angmar. The High Fells are not too far from Rivendell so this fits in. After he found out what he was looking for he went to rescue the dwarves because he had, well, just a feeling that he was needed..:dance

I pre-ordered from Amazon, but if the statue's available at my local Best Buy I'll just cancel and pick it up locally on release day.

Thankfully because of Amazon Prime I'm likely to either get it the day before or for sure that day. I'm lazy that way. :lol

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I don't feel a burning need to see this movie be much longer than an extra 13 minutes--my main interest in the EE release will be the commentary and all of the special features. The LOTR EE releases had some of the best behind the scenes material of any DVD release, and the bar has been set pretty high. Can't wait to check out everything The Hobbit has to offer.

Yeah, the 13 mins is probably a fair amount. Pushes the film to 3 hours and gives an already awesome a little more awesomeness. The same people that did the extra for LOTR did this stuff as well. So I think we'll be ok

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

From what I heard, that 13 minutes contains zero new scenes, just added moments during other scenes.

I still feel like the theatrical film is already an extended cut.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

I kind of doubt it's zero new scenes. That 1 minute piece is a new scene so it's got at least one new scene.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie thread *SPOILERS*

Any news related to that EE? To be more specific, what can we expect to see more. More singing dwarfs?

I have to admit that I'm not waiting this as much as LOTR EE versions, since theatrical versions is in a way "extented". I think that many of those extra bits in lotr ee versions very really nice and usefull additions. Like the fate of Saruman etc. Being said that, this doesn't look bad though and I most likely buy it anyways.
