Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Eughh. No news on the film then? This thread has hit the skids :(

I think the movie should feature an epic gang war. If something could happen to question Gordon's allegiance, that would be cool too. Catwoman is a must. And, in the end, Batman should die.

Wait... what thread am I in again?

At first I read epic gang bang.

Is the fact the film has actually, FINALLY got a green light and will be filming in NZ in February not enough??
I'm sure casting announcements etc will be staggered to maintain fandom. Weta, along with Alan Lee and John Howe, are working on stuff right now, and sets are being built! Hobbiton is nearly done too.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

this is great news. Of all the potential returnees, she was the one I had grave doubts about. Now if we can get confirmation for the other hoped-for returnees ("big 4" - McKellan, Serkis, Weaving, and Lee)

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Nice! I had actually worried they would leave out Beorn completely.

Why is Radagast in it though? Was he part of the White Council?

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Yeah, I don't remember Galadriel being in The Hobbit either....

Really worried about McKellan, though someone said Patrick Stewart would make a good Gandalf. I think there's something there.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Lucky they didn't replace him with a moth!:pfft:

:lol Nice!

Okay cool.

Galadriel was definitely in the White Council.

For those who don't know, the White Council is the group of individuals that drove the Necromancer (Sauron) out of Mirkwood forest.

It is revealed in appendices that that happened during the events of the Hobbit. So I have no problem with it being in this movie.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

What's the news on McKellen? I thought he confirmed he's coming back? I'm most disappointed that Lloyd probably wont be back...

Another note: Just did a quick google of the White Council. It looks like it didn't include Radagast, but I'm sure the appendix mentions gathering together all the wizards to fight the necromancer **nerd**

I wouldn't be too concerned, although nothing has been announced as yet his official website posted this a few weeks back.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

This film will be still be epic without McKellen in it however personally it won't be the same without him...

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I got in arguments with two different people after Fellowship came out and they were praising Patrick Stewart's performance as Gandalf.

I can't personally imagine anyone else in the part, and I hope for the best--but if all was well, he would have been one of the first names announced along with Freeman. The fact that we haven't heard anything yet is troublesome.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I would be shocked beyond shocked if something happened. He's down there already I think they're saving the announcement.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Agreed, I thought I heard awhile back that he said he would definitely reprise the role because HE didn't want to see anyone else as Gandalf. It was something along those lines.
