Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Serkis and McKellan were no brainers, so I am not excited about that. But if Chris Lee signed I am over the ******* moon!

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

onering.net reports not only has McKellen signed but also that Serkis has too. Also reports of Christopher Lee and Ian Holm signing soon!!!
Orlando Bloom still unsure ;)

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Dominoes have been falling quicker and quicker since the McKellen confirmation. Only major domino left is Weaving. and potential of Holm being available for quickie shots and voiceover work (as in: telling his adventures to Frodo as we do a crossfade from Elrond's Last Homely House to 60 years before in Bagend)

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Joy of joys I am now a happy camper! :yess: I hope he stays healthy and we get to see Saruman and his seduction to evil play out
That was the only casting choice I was worried about purely because of the age issue. The others were never in doubt IMO.
Btw a personal casting hope for me is Ron Perlman. He's an immense actor and a staple for these kinds of films. He woulda been a shoe in if GDT had directed it. Now it's more a pipe dream...shame that...

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Lee's involvement seemed the most unlikely--but if his health holds out and all the details come together, I would be totally thrilled to see him return to the role.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Oh man! This is a good day. But Saruman wasn't even in The Hobbit, was he? I totally don't mind them working him into the films, though.

Gandalf leaves at one point to go and meet with the White Council, which includes Saruman, Galadriel, etc. The films will apparently be showing us all of that action that was referred to in the book, but not seen.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Thats a sequence I'm looking forward to seeing come to life.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

I would love to see Christopher Lee as "good" Saruman just starting to get tempted by the ring. It's already too late when we first see him in Fellowship, but going back and seeing a bit of what led him down the wrong path would be interesting. They could get some nice foreshadowing in there.

Re: The Official "The Hobbit" movie thread

Also, former Doctor Who David Tennant is possibly playing Thranduil, while Orlando Bloom wants to be paid a million bucks for his two minute cameo scene.

If all I've read about actors getting shafted by New Line is true, he probably sees it as getting $$ due to him!
