Interesting that Anna had the sky turned red of all colors! Those of us that know the original series know that the "red dust" created by the humans...killed...the Visitors! :wink1:

I remember that as well, but I'm wondering what the red sky is going to do?? I think I'm going to have to watch the old series again just to appreciate how great special effects have some.

I'm liking the new series, but I still prefer the original so far.

Overall, great season finale, the but closing was a bit weak, having some unxplained red thing happen with the sky wasn't as threatening as something happening that you really know means trouble. I was expected to see shots of the sky filled with thousands of ships where you'd think game over man, but a super red sky, you know trouble's coming, but I just felt like after the whole first 98% of the show, that last 2% could have ended equally strong.

While the original series may appear dated by today's standards, it was far better than this show. At least you got to see reptilian aliens in the original. This one is dragging its feet in terms of real action, character development and showing anything worthwhile of the aliens or what they're hiding. They are hitting some of the same areas as the classic version but in a much weaker style. When Donovan entered the chamber where the humans were being "stored" it was like : WOW!! Oh my god!
Sending the Michael J Fox clone into the chamber had nothing - no suspense, no revelation NOTHING. They didn't even show what it was he was seeing.
LETDOWN.

Well, while I agree that Donovan seeing the bodies in storage for food was more shocking than what Chad saw, they did show what he saw, a woman being tortured by that device. The problem is, they've still yet to reveal what the Vs are doing in this show, why are they being tortured/studied, why send a huge fleet to kick ass. If season 2 really happens, I'll be curious to see what they come up with to explain that.

Yes, they showed the "torture, but he has no idea that the V's are reptilian. That could have been a human or a V for all he knew. Just disappointing.
I hope Kenneth Johnson is having better luck getting his theatrical version with the original plotrline going.

It probably favored the original to be 2 mini series to start instead of a weekly show, no dragging things out, just getting right to it.

Exactly. I think that is my main problem with the new show.

With miniseries, you have a sufficient yet limited amount of time to tell your story, so the writers have the perfect opportunity for pacing. They arent stressed to cram a whole story into two hours like with a movie, but with a definitive end point they know that they can't waste time.

However with this show there is no end point in sight, and thus a story which pretty much is straight forward is forced to be stretched out indefinatly. Thus a bunch of big revelations, such as the V's plan or the V's real form are being put off.

One thing is for sure. They can't do this much longer or people are going to lose intrest.

I agree that the new V series is "dragging it's feet" so to speak with revealing the true plan of the visitors. Since V creator Kenneth Johnson is also working on this new series, I know that some of their plans are using humans for food, and taking over earth to use up our natural resources. Specifically...water.

I'm anxious to read a V novel I got written by Kenneth Johnson titled, "V The Second Generation". I wonder what's going on in that book. I hope to read it soon. Here's a link to that book at Amazon.com.

https://www.amazon.com/V-Second-Gen...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1274318725&sr=1-1

It has been confirmed by ABC that V will be a "mid-season" show. That worries me as far as the storytelling. If it's mid-season, does that mean we'll get the same amount of episodes that we got with season one? :dunno

With Kenneth Johnson on board, I'm betting that we'll get a really good second season.

And as far as this show returning mid-season...that seems to have become the norm for network/cable television series (See BSG, LOST, etc., etc.).

I'm a fan of the original V mini-series, thought V: The Final Battle was pretty good until the lizard baby, and everything after that (especially the 80's TV series) was pretty much a ridiculous waste of time.

I do really like this new V series though. Sure it had a few slow points and was lacking a bit regarding character developement, but it seemed to steadily improve over the season and had a strong finish.

I understand that it's science-fiction and you have to allow for a certain degree of BS, but I still have a couple of nit-picks:

-You mean to tell me that with all the advanced technology the V's have, that they can conceal cameras into jackets, but they would leave something as important as the egg chamber completely unprotected and not have so much as a guard or even one surveillance camera?

-What's stopping Anna from just popping out a few thousand more soldier eggs? Was this ever explained? Is she only able to do this once over the course of many years?

Overall, I can't wait for the second season, and I'm sure that I'll appreciate it even more now that LOST is over. It's gonna be interesting now that the Fifth Column seems to have lost Ryan and possibly Hobbes, and maybe gained Chad Decker. There's also the issue of Joshua getting interrogated now that he's been revived. I'm not sure what to think about the red clouds. My first thought was that it was maybe to block out sunlight, but even as pissed as Anna is over the destroyed eggs, I don't think She is ready to show Her true intent to the Earth just yet.

Anyway I just hope that ABC gives V a fair chance and doesn't throw in another hiatus or mess with the day or time it's on.

Did we finally get a full lizard reveal?

What annoys me about the show: the lack of serious explanation. Decker asked anna (in the pilot, no less) why aliens look human......and the question has never come up again....so, am I to believe that characters in this show have just accepted a scientific impossibility? Argh...stuff like that...also, the show lacks serious action. They need to ramp it up a little bit....and they need to really start building up other characters more....after a half (full season), I still dont feel like I know many characters beyond the basics....

And speaking of the alien appearance of the Visitors and Decker, you'd think that Joshua could have convinced Decker a helluva lot quicker by revealing himself to him by at least showing him his reptilian eyes or something.

Ok, just watched it and that's what I am talking about!! Still no reveal....yet, there was the action I was missing...

Sets up for a (hopefully) much more intense season 2.....

if that church is a sample of the population of the U.S., i do have a hard time believing 90% support the V all the way....or, they did until the last moments

That is exactly what I thought when watching it, just rip your fake face off already and show Decker what you really are!!

Yeah, I REALLY hope that the first reveal of the visitors true reptilian identity is a GREAT one! I hope it pays off after we've waited SO long to see them without the "human skin" they've manufactured to cover their scaly hides!

Considering the high level of the special effects in this new V show, I am hoping that they will look cool, and not goofy. As much as I love the original show once they were revealed it was clear the reptile skin was a mask. But hey, they did the best they could with the special effects and make-up as it was in the mid-1980s at that time. :)

I remember when they showed Anna's true mouth, when she ate her male partner who helped her get pregnant. Her mouth was HUGE, and full of long razor sharp teeth!

It'd be cool to see V action figures. Good ones from NECA, or some other great company like that. The only one produced for the original series was a 12" visitor guy in their red uniform with the reptile head under the human skin. Pretty cool, and I still want one. When I was a teenager when the original show was on, this figure was very hard to find! It was produced by a small toy company called "LJN" back in 1984. It came with the visitors cool black laser pistol too. The visitor had a tongue that could "flicker" up and down with the touch of a button on his back. Here's some pictures of it. This isn't my figure. I hope to get one someday!

Here's the switch on his back that controls his "flicking" tongue...

He's ready to chow down on some gerbils and mice!

Wouldn't it be awesome to see Sideshow or even Hot Toys do a new and better version of this one? I wonder if the V soldiers in the new series will also have these red uniforms. They'll probably "tone down" the color. I've only seen their dark blue uniforms so far in the new show.

I still find it funny how shortly after the arrival of the aliens in the original show, they arleady had a line of action figures and playsets :lol

You don't see Tyler playing Vs the game on his xBox in the new series.

Well, they didn't have a line of action figures....just one. That 12" figure I showed. No playsets either. I was a teenager then, and I have collected most of my life. I would have got all of the V toys. But I missed the 12" figure.

A new V video game would be great on Xbox 360. I have that system. But I'm LOVING Red Dead Redemption right now! :)
