Yeah go watch 'Blood' It's great.

Yay! No Country, best movie of the year and an even better book - they didn't include the best scenes in the movie. So if you liked the film, or even if you didn't ;), go read the amazing book people!

15/24. I hope it holds up and I win some $$$.

Read Blood Meridian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall, I was entertained for a good 2+ hours. The people I really wanted to win DDay-Lewis and Diablo Cody won, so I was happy about that. Jon Stewart was pretty funny (especially the line about Angelina Jolie), so I happy about the telecast

Yay for Minnesotan Winners Joel and Ethan Coen and Diablo Cody!

Woohoo!

New State Slogan:

Minnesota - Where strippers become oscar winners. ;)

I agree with entropy. The book is a great read.

Yep, I don't think I've seen a movie as close to it's source material as The Coen's adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's novel No Country For Old Men.

Great show:rock It was nice that "what's-her-face" who won Best song got to come out and say her thank-you's. What suck'd was the danish host's that sat and talked during every commercial break. What a bunch of douches:emperor

I got 20/24 right. Would've had 22 if The Golden Compass didnt take Best Visual Effects:confused: and La Mome Best Make-Up. I must say i'm quite pleased with myself considering of all the winners, i'v only seen There Will Be Blood, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Golden Compass and Ratatouille.

DANIEL DAY-LEWIS!!!:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock

Yeah, the guy is one Hell of an actor. He's so softspoken and kind in real life but on film, he can be the most intimidating guy ever. :rock

I actually thought he would have made a perfect joker in DK.

Anybody know the what movie the song that was playing when they went over the previous best movies is from? Somebody at my party asked and I can't think of it

It's music from the Dennis Quaid/Sean Connery movie "Dragonheart"

It's funny...I've heard that music used many times on awards shows or sporting events...

And why no Brad Renfro on the clips of death?

I watched all 5 best picture nominees yesterday (AMC Theaters had their annual Best Picture Showcase) and definitely agree that No Country was just an unforgettable experience. The Oscar show itself was pretty good I thought, and almost every big movie that was nominated won in at least one category, so that was cool!

That one's great too. Cormac McCarthy is an amazing writer!!! I can't wait to see the movie adaptation of The Road starring Viggo. I'll have to throw a BBQ party with Baby back ribs to celebrate. :D

Glad you weren't in my Oscar pool IronFingaz, found out I won third year in a row!

I didn't really care about many of the nominations this year, but I thought it was a great show. Stewart got a little silly at times (the Wii joke was really out of place) but for the most part he did a great job.

As much as I loved Enchanted I'm glad that "Once" won for best song - and they had the best acceptance speeches of the night too. Diablo was great and my pick to win as well. Marion Cottard was also great to watch accepting, both she and Diablo seemed really moved to have won.

I hadn't realized that this was probably the first Oscars with a fictious person nominated. The editor of No Country For Old Men isn't real. That's a pseudonym the Coens use because of union rules.

Lots of fun, nothing too stupid and some interesting speeches.

My favorite moment of the night was when Stewart stopped the show and brought out the female half of the winning song team to give her portion of the acceptance speech. That was a completely first class thing to do. A tip of the hat to whoever had that idea.

That was a really nice thing. I felt bad for her when they cut her off and she walked off stage. There was another woman a little while before that, who also got cut off because two guyshogged the mic, so she got to say "thank you" when the music started playing.

Just checked out the Favorite Moments poll on imdb and there's a couple i didnt really understand (maybe i missed something). Anyone know what they mean?

"Diablo Cody rocking her Betty Rubble dress -- and inadvertently brushing off Harrison Ford"

"Jessica Alba channeling Drew Barrymore"

"No Country for Old Men producer Scott Rudin not throwing his Oscar at his assistant"

I voted for this one:D

"Jon Stewart's classy move to bring out Once's Markéta Irglová to give her acceptance speech"

Diablo, who was wearing a leopard skin print reminiscent of the Flintstones, was crying after accepting her award and it looked like Harrison tried to say something to her, but she walked on ahead.

Jessica Alba - no idea what they meant by that.

Scott Rudin is notorious for going through assistants like water. He's an impossible boss and has been known to throw things at his assistants.
