That's really not the problem to me. The problem to me is, is that they're not lowering the price, even though the production cost is decreasing drastically. I love the idea of using plastics, light weight, durable, CHEAPER! But we won't get those savings past onto us. That's what I think the big deal is.

BINGO, my friend.

I hate the idea of using plastic because plastic is synonymous with cheap and trust me, you will be able to tell the difference between polystone and ABS. My main beef is that we are sacrificing some very high quality materials here and replacing them with sub-par ones. And I am not trying to be rude or go down a slippery slope here but if customers accept this now than I foresee this being the norm in the future.

I know some of you may argue that you can't even tell that the body is plastic because it's obscured with clothing and to them I say...but you will definitely know.

Okay, I was originally going to stay out of this conversation. I have always felt that ALL Premium Formats are overpriced. I still own Vader and the new Dagobah Luke ... but that's because I found Vader for a 100 dollars below retail on Ebay and I traded for Luke. However, as someone here said in another thread, cost for a collectible does not correlated with price in the "real world." Milk, baby food, bread, etc. - those are essentials. People have to have them to survive so any gouging is harmful and wrong. We don't have to have a PF Vader or Fett. We choose to have them. Therefore, the price point is irrelevant. Its worth exactly what you are willing to pay.

However, I did notice something in this thread. And it's something I am noticing more often on SSF forums as of late. I was not trying to single out Josh above, its just the first example I came to that I could quote ... and, well, I know Josh is always looking for an excuse to post-pad so it killed 2 birds with one stone :google

But look how hateful and nasty some of you were towards Irish and the other people who complained about this. Why? To his credit, Irish remained civil the entire time. He had a valid complaint and felt like discussing it with people who share his love for collecting. He stuck up for his opinion, but never once condescended or got personal. And yet, numerous others who disagreed with him chose this negative approach. What right do you have to tell him his opinion doesn't matter? You label his concern BS just because you don't agree with him. That's just wrong in my book. Most of you guys are as picky as Irish. And, just tell me you won't get angry next time you have a concern that's important to you .. and people tell you to shut up ... come on now, say it once more with feeling (sorry Buffy comes on early morning on cable). And please, oh please, could we lay off the "I get so tired of reading blah blah ..." I get tired of reading this "Teaching Math to Elementary School Students" book. It's boring and I do feel like they are saying the same thing over and over. However, I HAVE to read it. My college class and my teaching renewal credits are based on getting a good grade. You don't have to read a single word in this thread. You have 100s of other choices on SSF forum. Its not like Irish was outside your house with a megaphone yelling as you tried to eat dinner. Someone said, "this is a Sideshow forum and if you don't like it, then don't let the door hit your azz on the way out." Well, I am going to reverse that sentiment. "This is meant to be a place where we discuss and debate Sideshow merchandise. If your mind is closed and all you want to hear is your own opinion, then don't let the door hit your azz on the way out of this thread ... or possibly the forum." Also, you might want to look into buying a dictating recorder.

Very well said. Not one time did Irish lash out like others did with personal remarks and jabs. Some people have forgotten that this is not a Sideshow LOVE ONLY Board but a discussion board. Sideshow is not immune to negative criticism, especially on this board. Call it tough love but we are how Sideshow knows that sometimes they have gone too far. We are their free consultation and opinion board. So yeah, as many of you stated, Irish did repeat himself several times but it is all of you that replied to him several times that kept spurring him on. So who is to blame?

Furthermore, do we really want a community that ostracizes members because of their different opinions? I here a lot of people saying, well if you don't like it shut up. Are these comments really necessary? They are aggressive and definitely show ill-will. We will never grow or get along as a community if we don't have repect for each other.

There's a reason more of us more calmers board members have gotten riled up. It's cause so many of the new members we have 99.99% from SW are so *****y that they complain about EVERYTHING. Some of it as a nice as telling your mother she's a female dog. As far as me post padding well I save that for the Sandbox and the never ending thread. Out here I'm replying with my thoughts because I choose to do so. :)

I think you need to go back and re-read some of the posts by Irish and others. There where some pretty underhanded shots tost. Cust Cutting, Bait and Switch, Conspiracy Theories, etc. etc.

Go back and re-read the post I was replying to again Doug. I was calling BS on the fact he acted like he knew for sure. It wasn't a concern I was labeling BS it was the fact he was saying he knew for sure it was fact.

I find that the excuse to change to plastic to save us $10 on shipping as one of the lamest things to say ever. Damnit the Hulk was 51lbs for gods sake and who cares?? so I save $10 and they save $100 by not having it sculpted or produced in polystone. But I end up with a piece of plastic.:emperor

This is exactly what the man is talking about. Thanks for proving his point.

Not a jab at you but a Jab at Sideshow. Why do you take it so personally?

How do you know for sure it isn't fact? Where are your numbers to prove otherwise? He can have an opinion just like you but you don't think that if he disagrees with you he should be able to voice it.

SIDESHOW JUST WANTS YOUR MONEY JOSH, I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOUR NEED TO CONSTANTLY PROTECT THEM FROM NEGATIVE COMMENTS.

If you are happy with the product, then why not just be happy and leave others to their discontent? Why respond back and egg them on every 10 seconds?

I'd rather spend another $50 on shipping to ensure polystone was employed. But SS have made their decision. I just hope it does not pass over to the Marvel line. I'm betting all the Stormtroopers etc will be made from this ABS stuff.:monkey2

I will tell you now I will check out this piece if I dont like it or for heavens sake its just to light it will go back I refuse to pay $300+ for a plastic statue. I gaurantee if people saw this so called non moveable doll in Target or a toystore

1. they would be like what the hell is this only the head moves??

2. if it was labeled a statue and they tried to sell it in a store people would laugh as a statue is not made from plastic and it should have some wieght to it.

In plasic this 22 inch figure should cost $49.99 and the 12 inch hot toys should be $29.99

47 cancellations is not good. I know SS are trying to produce something special for its collectors but i hope they take this on board in future productions. ABS is fine for action figures but when you are trying to collect a "High End" line which to date the SW has been Its going to be difficult for some collectors to continue with the use of this ABS. I don't think it will effect the Darth Maul but it will certainly effect Stormtroopers, Sandtroopers etc. I guess we will need to be selective and not get caught in the trap of completism and be unhappy that some of our collection is made of ABS.

Darth maul has ABS written all over it. Big head narrow shoulders and thin arms are just like fetts........Im done with this line.

I want SS to do whatever they have to so my items get to me intact. If that means the armor is made out of ABS that's fine.

What about having an inner and outer postage box with those white corners to provide a cavity between the outer and inner box. I think this is a better solution. Charge more for postage and keep the quality.
