Re: Predator Reboot...

I have a very particular opinion about A:R, I'm aware I stand alone probably, but I think it's better than A3, I like the visuals the score, the story, the cheesy dialogue and the cartoony characters, I like the overall French tone :lol

Taken on its own I'm sure it's fine. But as an Alien film, to me it doesn't fit with the others, even Alien 3. The dialogue and characters, the overexposure of the alien etc.

Yeah, It's a good way to look at it, It's a weird film I won't deny that, kind of like a weird comicbook brought to life.

Re: Predator Reboot...

Black knows his ****. His interviews especially on the P1 SE dvd are very intelligent, he knows the industry, and doesn't seem like he suffers fools.

Re: Predator Reboot...

Mind = blown.

What are you thinking?

I'm thinking Afganistan, or someplace in the middle east that's the heart of the conflict right now, maybe Africa, it could be non-specific like the 1st predator.

Yeah middle east was exactly what I was thinking. Superstitious locals talking of “Ghosts” that prey on the battlefield, special forces thinking its just gruesome gorilla/terror tactics. The possibilities :gah: :lol

Re: Predator Reboot...

War Zone setting...maybe but I would actually like to see him maybe in Hong Kong with some sort of Triad war going on in the background but I suppose that does reek of P2.

New York would have been great but the New York now is to modern I feel. The New York look and feel of the 80's and 90's would have been a great Predator setting and not the smarty-arty, Wi-Fi café look it has now.

A thousand times yes!!! FOX!! Read this thread!

Re: Predator Reboot...

I really like the "warzone" setting in Afghanistan or some other Middle Eastern desert country. You could have American Special Forces thinking they're under attack by some unique terrorists only to learn that it's a group of Predators (or perhaps just one again) attracted by two things that have been mentioned in the previous movies: HEAT (Jungle in P1, LA Heatwave in P2) and CONFLICT.

Has anyone read "Bad Blood" by Dark Horse comics? Essentially it dictates a Predator having gone insane and killed members of his own clan. A "cop" Predator is sent out to hunt and kill him (the rogue Predator aka "Bad Blood") and a group of mercenaries get caught in the middle. Perhaps something like this could be added too?

Glad to see FOX has taken their franchises "seriously" again. PROMETHEUS was a good start (albeit confusing at times) for ALIEN with a sequel on the way and PREDATORS was a solid follow-up to the other movies in my opinion. Let's keep Alien vs. Predator from NOT happening again unless a TALENTED filmmaker comes aboard with a GREAT script and it HOPEFULLY includes Colonial Marines during the "Aliens" time period.

Re: Predator Reboot...

I'd like to see the Predator planet, see their tech, see more of their culture, see where else they go other than Earth, hear them interact with each other, have a predator be the main character...

I know it'll never happen though.

Re: Predator Reboot...

The bad blood and cop idea sounds good but the predator vs. predator thing didn't work atall in Predators.

Keep it simple, one Pred, one hunt.

That's a Predator movie I would like to see. One that really dives into their culture and treats it very much in vein with other "tribal" or "indigenous" style movies. It's very possible but you'll need a talented filmmaker to do it who is great at crafting emotion and audience connection through limited dialogue and perhaps limited human characters. As well as a great script.

The only thing I didn't like about the Pred vs Pred concept in Predators was the fact that there were two races of predators, and that in the fight scene they were just so obviously men in suits.

Two races just seems so unnecessary. The original predators already have a great deal of variety between them, we don't need to make them bigger and call them a new breed to make them special.

I believe in the original script the super predators weren't another breed, but were simply jacked up on space drugs/steroids. I love that idea and think it would have worked much better than what we got.

I think the cheap fight scene can be attributed to the film having a lowish budget. That and the suit actors weren't all that great. Certainly not as talented as Ian Whyte. I hope he returns as the predator for this new film.

Hey you're back! :duff:

Yeah I didn't like that idea either, mainly because I didn't like the idea of my precious Yautja being inferior at all.

That does sound a lot better.

just picturing this in my mind........ :drool

yeah this would definitely be so great to see. so much potential.

that sounds really great too, Amazing actually.

But you know Shane will probably set the movie in a jungle again just like P1 or Predators. Seems obvious.

they might be doing a sequel and not a reboot but they won't go too far from what the first one was.

I Predict this sequel to have:

Jungle setting,
guys with Guns,
one predator

First look at the Alien reboot.

Re: Predator Reboot...

I don't know the 'war zone' scenario just sounds predictable but I suppose it would take the franchise back to its roots, you know with the Predator coming to earth hunting in the heat and where combat is happening unlike AVP where they came to the coldest place on Earth. :lol

oh but you see they had all that sick armor and they were very hefty. They ate too many predator burgers to be able to stand the cold :rotfl

It's easy to try not to make any sense of AVP, next you'll be asking how Bishop could be there if he was human at the end of Alien 3....
