Even with heavy weight take little rest? (wow goes against everything i've heard) I'll try it :)

Ok only one set to failure then out of 12? Got it. hope that helps my muscles, they're probably overworked.

I gotta go for a bit but thx for the info, i'll check back later.

:peace

Yes sir, keep it heavy and go fast, plus being on the deficit calories for the diet is the way to a shredded machine and with size btw.

That's what everyone wants right to be bigger/cut and in shape heart wise. Well most ppl, I know there's ppl that what to be skinny but for me a lil muscle tons makes hella difference.

Yup leaving work right now, I'll check up later as well. :rock

How many times to get to the gym?

Forgot that part. I workout every other day. So like this week it's Tues-Thurs-Sat next week it's Mon-Weds-Fri-Sun. I found that my body just can't keep up pace running if I do consecutive days. At the pace I go, if I ran 4 straight days, by the 3rd I'd probably cut back and 4th I'd get about half through. The every other works great for getting just enough time to heal up and all and rest and then keep going the next time.

Forgot to add I do 50 crunches for abs and 25 on each side for obliques.

Looks like the eating habits are pretty good man! :rock Of course the morning if the most important time to shed. Every tried morning cardio? I've always done the morning "fast" on empty stomach and that drops lbs dramatically. Basically because we are at ground zero whenever we wake up and all the food is digested so there's no carbs in the way of burning muscle. Straight tapping of the fat whenever we wake up and do activity. It's rough at first on empty stomach but again you get used to it.

Well, currently I'm not working, so I have been working out early in the day, before I eat lunch.

Awesome I would say just keep it up man, sounds like everything is going all right and u'll continue to lose as long as you remain eating clean and on a calorie deficit.

Good job bro, how long have you been training and eating clean for?

Yea, rest and diet is more important than making it to the gym beyond anything. I think ur doing all right man, just keep keeping on! :rock :rock :rock

I've been going since the start of February. I've only been strongly consistent for about a month now, before that I was sick for about 2 weeks and didn't do anything during that period, and prior to that I was getting into a rhythm, but life schedule had me busy and out of sync early on. That was the hardest part, not getting in a rhythm because for me, getting into a pattern is key into sticking with it, and missing days because of this and that makes it easy to start stopping, but between progress, routine and determination, I am not giving up. I'm also at a point where I really feel it will redefine my life once I get where I want to be, and that's important so I don't want to give up on that either.

Yes sir u made a wise decision man, just keep being constant and that's the key, since Feb is a good feat man by next Feb u'll be shocked I bet on how long of a haul you've made and the differences in over all presence, feelings and how others might even see you differently.

Not that it's all about looks because I do this for overall health and the looks is a bonus but you will get loads of respect because what your doing and about to accomplish takes discipline and not many others have that.

Like Arnold would say "U lack discipline" :lol not u of course but I love that line :lol

Yeah, people i know are already proud of my commitment and work, every time I see them, which is like once a month, they keep noticing the small changes.

September marks the anniversary of when I finally had enough of myself, so I'll be anxious to see where I'm at come that time.

Welcome to the club, Skiman!

Every time I come to this thread, there is always pages and pages of great info, thanks for sharing everyone! :rock

I'm still hitting the cardio and the crunches, myself. I'd like to do weights, but I think I'll concentrate on the gut and man-****s for right now.

Weight loss is the first thing to do. I've heard it's counter productive to build up muscle to early into weith loss.

I've been going for almost 4 months but only weight lifting 3 weeks. I burnt off about 20lbs first, but now that I'm burning to a point where areas are having excess skin and all, I'm weightlifting to tone up my skin and everything.

Ski, this wont burn off muscle?

I weighing in at 165 these days, dont really want to cut up that much, as i dont want to lose anymore weight, worried all that cardio may do that.

I guess to put on teh pounds I need a bigger caloric intake, my protein levels are high enough just dont have time to take in 600 calories 5 x a day

Seriously guys, consult a proper personal trainer and dietitian.

Asking for tips is okay, but you'll benefit more from a pro. If you can spend 200 on a 12" or 400 on a PF with shipping, you can take on a personal trainer.

Best advice anyone can give in this thread. Make certain to do a background check. Make certain who is training you is legit.

The man has a point. :lecture

Update on my current fitness program:

As you guys know I once walk a mile and a half. Yeah, thats right an ENTIRE mile and a half.

So....today I thought about trying that again.

End of update.

It has begun!!! Today marks the beginning of (hopefully) a healthier more fit me. I have said this to myself many times before, but this time I am comitted to losing weight and getting healthy. :rock

I went for a run/walk today to test my knee and it went pretty well, there was a little pain at first but it felt good after a while. I ran for a bit and walked for a bit, but man the run parts were pathetic! :lol I know that will all change once I build my stamina, but man my lungs were on fire! :D

I weighed myself today as well...oooooh boy...I came in at 270. :( A lot of people tell me that I carry it well, but I don't want to ^^^^ing carry it well, I want to slim down and tone up damnit and that will be my ongoing goal. I will be running working out every other day for now and once I get used to it go more frequently, I just know it's gonna be kinda hard 'til I get there. I'm glad I have you guys to keep me going. :rock

Ill, I'm not sure if you already are, but try running with a knee brace on your bad knee, I find wearing one keeps my knees from feeling it when I run.

Nah man, but it does depend on ur body type, if ur a type that gains easily then u can get by with doin lots of low intensity cardio, just enough to keep the heart rate up, I would say around the 140's+.

If your body type is hard to gain muscle or ur fairly young ur metabolism prolly runs either very fast or ur either an ectomorph which less cardio is required.

It does differ per person, for me I'm an easy gaining on the size end and can do cardio in the mornings and evenings and still maintain a lot of the muscle on a high protein meal plan.

edit: the meal plans to eat more currently works but it's mainly in place just to keep u from splurging late in the evenings when you use least of the food for energy. It is a calories in versus calories out kind of game but it always requires eating the right foods as well, for instance eating clean and making sure u don't go over ur deficit.

Question for the weightlifters here, does this make sense.

I can work 3 times as much weight with my triceps as my biceps.
