I am curious about something, why do you guys want to take supplements? If it was me I would really want to bulk up naturally if that was the look I was going for. Taking a supplement seems like cheating and then what happens when you stop taking it? Do you guys really want to go past what you could naturally get to?

Whey is not really a supplement, unless you consider protein not food. It's just convenient. (gotta have protein to build muscles)

And creatine is made naturally by the body, it is a supplement, and creatine will only really make you 5-10% stronger. It's all about going to the next level.

I understand. This is definitely a case of different strokes for different folks type of thing for me. :lol It would be all natural for me but that doesn't even matter as I never want to become beefy. :lol

I consider those two supps as natural as it gets. (whey is just food )

Creatine i'm still looking into.

All natural baby. The most I might take is whey powder. Big whoop. I didn't even use fat burners to get ripped up for competition like many do.

No creatine for me. It just bloats you with water retention... usually creatine mono-hydrate is the worse for that.

Yeah gotta stay hydrated on that. I'm gonna try it here sooner or later and see how it goes, or the amino acid beta alanine.

I've been considering doing this and having them train me for a few weeks 'til I get the routine and stuff down on my own. The only thing that has kept me is that I hate going to the Gym alone! I'm going to take your lead Josh and say ^^^^ it and not be afraid to go on my own. :rock

I haven't been to the gym in about 2 years. The personal trainer came to my house and helped me work with my own equipment.

it all depends on the supplements. some guys i see are on t-bomb and all that crazy stuff. some guys swear by creatine. others do nothing. it depends on your goals and philosophy. my wife (mrs gnc) has me on 3 things no2 for bloodflow and recovery, creatine 189 for muscle density (doesn't require massive h2o intake), and massxxx for protein. personally, i use em cause i have the metabolism of speedy gonzalez and lose weight just sitting around the house. none of these are for bulking, they're designed for long term performance. i agree, bulking using creatine monohydrate, and various hormonal supplements to get huge by doing a few sets is cheating and hazardous.
i can only use myself and my sister in law (pro fitness model) as a guide. her goal is looks and to feel good. my goal is more tactical in nature ie, to be strong, fast, and durable enough to win a fight as fast a possible or survive as long as possible.
i apologize for the paragraphs, but i actually have invested a lot of time into the subject. i did au naturale for years before i realized i was not getting anywhere. my max wouldn't budge, my body weight was unhealthily light, my heart rate was weak. i guess it all depends on a bunch of factors.

I want your metabolism so that I can be even lazier than I am now. Gives it to me. I wants it. :lol

If your a thinner guy looking to gain some size Id start with some creatine, if you are on the heavy side I would pass as others have said there is a degree of water retention and it can put undo stress on your joints. If you are just starting out just stick to a good blended whey protein.

Well see that's the thing creatine isn't JUST for size. (it will help) But it will also get you those two or three extra reps, which is what i'm after.(performance so you can get size and bust plateau's) I would recommend it whether you're cutting or bulking. But i'm also looking into beta alanine, a lot of people compare it to creatine without the water bloat.

I could be, but its also a false sense of accomplishment, I was never able toget back to the weight I could do years back when I started lifting and used creatine. Soon as you stop its not like you will be able to continue at the same levels, I didnt for me anyway.

But like you said it is good for a push.

He could be on a treadmill.. he may even have a heart monitor that registers RPMs... *shrugs*

Yep. I am on a treadmill that is pretty damn advanced, it keeps me up to speed on all kinds of cool info. And I keep it at a 1.0 incline so I get the feel of running on the road. I wish I could do free running, I miss the trails we had on the military base.. that helped a lot.

As for supplements, I have stayed away from them for a few years. I used Creatine when I was in the military and yeah, I just bloated up with water weight. And once I stopped I gained a bunch of fat very quick and hadn't been able to crawl back since. So now I just go natural. My metabolism is pretty slow as it is, and I haven't reached a plateau yet. Just winging it for now. But if I do hit a wall, I might give myself something to help me over it. But not until I research it a bit beforehand.

And great news Ill! I hope it works out for you man. It's not so bad going alone, I love it. And I get done with my workout in about 2 hours instead of 3 or 4 with a partner. :D

When you are talking about natural supplements, creatine(a good one) is probably the best performance enhancer.

I know most people here are just trying to get fit, but if you are training for bodybuilding, protein supplements are a must, cos without them your muscles will simply not repair quick enough to train again in a short time..

When I competed, supplements are very important to keep you on track.

However if you are just wanting to be generally fit, I wouldnt recommend creatine or any protein drinks containing high carbs.

Training HEAVY, day in, day out it is simply impossible to keep going without some supplementation.
