Now that I changed up my _____ squats my legs feel like they are about to fall off every night I do legs. Ass to the ground. :lecture

I'm looking into a gym membership, but i think i would enjoy working out more if i was swimming. does anyone know of a good gym with a pool and decent prices? Thanks in advance.

So I am finially getting to a point where I had zero pain in my wrist (after about a month :monkey2) Do you guys recommend a certain time period of decreased weight to build up my strength again? I know I won't be at the point I was when I got hurt, but should I start around 75% of what I was at or even 50% for a few weeks to build up again??? Thanks.

I would jump back in to whatever my wrist would allow me to do. Just remember though; no pain doesn't mean it's healed. I'd be sure and test it well with some rehab type exercises before I did anything.

So, it's been awhile since I've updated.

It's been around a year and half since I started my new healthy journey of eating better and taking care of myself physically. After a set back of an 8 pound weight gain back over the last few months, I started to really get back into my routine again and have gotten rid of those pounds and then some for a total loss of 62.7 pounds as of today!

I still have a goal of getting rid of at least 28 to 32 more pounds and I'm hoping through continued exercise, food choices and food portions I will be able to achieve my ultimate goal.

So, I suppose a before and a recent current will show the journey a little better (tried to find more full shots but don't have a recent one, so these will have to do)...

I used to be one of those people that never thought I could achieve a more healthy lifestyle, so I guess partly my motivation for all this is to say (and it's horribly cliched) but once you're mind is finally made up, it's amazing what you can do. So for those achieving better eating habits, more bulk, less bulk...I applaud you and know that with your continued dedication it will pay off! :clap

Yep, you are killing the muscle with 5 miles a day :lol

LISS is the only way to try and preserve any kind of muscle, low intense but a moderate rate of walking on the treadmill for 45+ minutes.

Depending on how cut you'd like to be, 2 sessions a day may be required, along with eating healthy of course.

Wow. Good to know. I guess I have some big fitness choices ahead of me. I love running, but having muscle is great.

Thanks for info, Ski :hi5:

Any menu suggestions/routines? The "quick" part was just a sort of best case scenario, any help is, again, greatly appreciated.

Incorporate more raw foods into your diet. Farmers feed their hogs cooked potatoes because cooking the potatoes causes more weight gain than raw potatoes do. Basically try more salads, but go easy on the dressing. Olive oil, lemon and garlic dressing imparts a lot of flavor and you don't need to add a lot to a salad to enhance the flavor, if you want a dressing. Juicing helps too, as in raw vegetable juices, freshly extracted.

Yea, after a couple of months, I barely realize I'm eating the same food all the time. I eat so often and I'm on a schedule, it doesn't even register that the food is the same.....don't know if that's a good thing or not :lol:lol:lol:lol

I also agree that the "cheat" meals are freaking epic when the come along. I went ape **** at Ghirardelli down there at SDCC and it was EPIC !!!! :lol

I have heard that eating oranges helps reduce the desire for chocolate, and my personal experience validates this, that is, if you want to cut back.

You really have to figure out what sort of physique you want. There is no one build that is best at everything. Guys who are really big work out hours a day and eat and sleep a lot. They have time for little else, plus, they have so much lactic acid circulating through their bodies that they fatigue very quickly compared to much slimmer builds. They also tend to have low flexibility. People with a lot of endurance tend to be very slim, and they simply don't have the strength of bigger guys, but they can move around their own body weight better.
In my mind, the best overall is the gymnast build, which is fairly big and strong, yet is very flexible, with considerable endurance, and that type will allow you to do the most physical tasks.

However, if there is one type of physique you like best, go for that one. See how it is for you. If you don't like it you can always change your training to get another type. For example, Gary Null used to be a power lifter, and one of the three strongest men in his state. Later, he decided to become a World Champion marathon runner and race walker.
Experiment a bit and figure out what you like best.

Crossfit yesterday was awesome....NOT. We were doing 4 rounds of 135lb bump presses, 10 pullups, 10 pushups,15 squats, then a 1/4 mile run. In the 3rd round I was exhausted and the 135lb bar met my forehead and I just about TKO'd myself. I have this huge knot now.

Thinking about sledge hammer training. Some friends at the gym have incorporated that into their training and I swear it has done wonders for their back.

I am so happy for you. Truly inspirational. I am very happy you found the way that works for you.

I am hoping I can finally do this for myself as well.

(ps love the hair color :) )

Congratulations, you are truly an inspiration and you show that it can be done.
