Nah, not too much alterations on just the HIIT and LISS for types of cardio. I try to keep my diet more in check to lose instead of the activity. I do keep a very fast pace on weights though so it's almost like I'm doing cardio the whole workout.

HIIT I'll swing back in forth from sprints/jog to a jog/walk depending on what days I've hit certain body groups like back and legs. Either of those are pretty taxing in themselves but I always do a hour of cardio.

Cheers to Coldplay as well, their music really inspires me, I love the hard stuff but sometimes you just have to go with the gut feelings and get motivation that way. That being said, a lot of their songs relate back to my mindset.

I have decided to be a good girl and finally add some weight training into my regimen. I started with last night. As good as it is to do lots of cardio, we all know it's not enough. So last night was the start. And tonight I'll be adding more, etc. I love that I'm losing a few lbs but the most exciting thing was that I lost inches in some places.

I haven't lost as much 'weight' and I think it's because I'm firming up some areas. So I've decided not to take too much stock in the weighing myself part. Don't get me wrong, I'm still weighing myself because you should keep up with that. But I'm not getting overly serious about it. I eat decently, so I know that I'm not going to jump up too much on the scale.

Anyways, I'm noticing that I need some more definition in my arms, legs, etc. So let's see what a few weeks of adding weights does for me. :D I'll keep you posted.

Way to go BG.

If you stay off the scale, do what some do instead.

Measure.

Measure arms, thighs, waist, back, etc. You should see a difference.

I figured as much, especially with the fast pace on weights, but just thought I'd ask.

I love the fast-paced weights program, btw. Have been using it since college. Other guys stand around in the gym chatting it up, and I'm in and out in 40min. :lol

Lost! EP is probably my favorite. The version with Jay-Z is pretty good, too.

Can anyone recommend some really good lower back workouts that aren’t to strenuous? I injured my lower back in a car accident about 5 years ago and cannot do certain workouts such as hyperextensions due to the strain being too much. Any help is appreciated.

This morning, I know the cam sucks it's one of the first "smart" phones, I don't care to replace it as long as it texts. :)

Here's where I went to free squats LOL, um... at this point I said ____ it and didn't take pics. I stopped there with 315lbs squat for 10 sets of 4 reps and finished with one hour of cardio.

Actually since health and fitness are my No. 1 priorities in life, I have been pondering starting a thread like this for a while.

I have been training for six years now and have competed in amateur body building.

I try to keep my body fat percentage low, which guys like Skiman will tell you is a detriment to building bigger, much more thicker and denser muscle. Right now with school starting in just over a week (8 days), I figure it's more important to focus on that vs. trying to make significant size gains. I am more-so just in maintenance mode. I will never ever drop running and weight training. In fact, I want to get back into martial arts/boxing, and even b-boy stuff. What can I say, anything that keeps me physically active, I am all for it! :rock

My diet consists of water, lean chicken breasts, salmon, tuna, fruit (especially blueberries and pomegranates for antioxidants), vegetables, Omega 3 yogurt, jam, old fashioned peanut butter (no hydrogenated oils), cottage cheese, flavoured rice cakes, whole wheat breads (not much), oatmeal, whey protein, granola bars, blueberry pancakes (mmmm), and egg whites. I don't have salt in my cupboards. There is enough sodium in my food as is.

I work out five to six days a week. Not every one of those days is running or weight training. I also know it's important to let your body rest.

Weird. I have pretty much the exact same fitness routine (5-6 days per week) and food choices. I'm mainly doing it to keep my body fat low since my day job requires me to sit at a desk for 8 hours a day...

I guess I have, didn't really think about it that way but my grapefuit per day is organic. :lecture

I don't eat all organic fruits and veggies but go for it when the prices are good enough. I buy regular granny smith apples but I wash them with soap/water to get all the crud off.

Almost forgot, today's breakfast!!!

I also just read this from a another bb'rs blog and it really states :exactly: the mindset that we all should have. :lecture

This is great!!!

"To simply exist, mediocrity, is not difficult – just become a mindless drone, a sheep. However, to push yourself beyond mediocrity, to create your own path in life, is when I believe life begins to take shape. Therefore, anything I ever pursue, I pursue out of passion. This has been the ingredient to my number of successes. Without passion, you will not be able to climb to the top of any field. You must push forward when everyone else quits, when the sacrifices become too plenty and when nothing is going your way. This passion for your craft radiates through yourself and through your work"

Ski at what point do you cut out sodium and most of your water before a contest?

Sodium will happen very soon and I've been keeping it down every other day. I usually try to keep it at 1-2 grams per day 60 days out but somedays I just need the carbs or a eating meal that I use to repair myself more has more sodium than I'd like. Around 30 days out it will which to 1 gram a day and then water is about the last few weeks alternating every 1-2 days and then refeed.
