Went beast mode on chest today! 5 sets of 85lb dumbbell chest flys pumped me up! :rock

Wanker your chest just broke my monitor!!!!!!

Just did my first weightlifting workout in about 3 years. Been dealing with a chronic elbow problem for awhile now that was due to weightlifting in the first place. I've been to literally 12 doctors and since the symptoms aren't very specific, it can't be diagnosed. So, I'm just going to try and manage the pain while lifting. I used to be very ripped before this problem began, but now 3 years later I gained 30lbs since this thing impeded me. I've been doing therapy for it for about 2 months now, starting with very light weights and doing bicep, tricep, shoulder and chest workouts. For the time being I need to do knee-pushups and I need to use my lat machine. But for the first time in years, I think I did pretty damn good off the bat.

Maybe in a few months, I'll post before and after pictures. When I was in my fittest, I was 145lbs and about 8% body fat.

You almost mirror my problem.
I've been suffering with left shoulder pain for three years which stopped me training.
Also suffered weight gain since coming out of work three months ago.
Has a little swing of the kettle bells a couple of days ago which aggravated the shoulder again.
I'm looking at skipping, sit ups and sessions on B.O.B to lose the weight and get fit now.

My problem stems from having tendonitis in both biceps and shoulders, so I took off a few months after it healed. So in May 2011 I started back up, and instead of taking it slow, I decided to do pullups but stepping off a chair, so I can do just the negative portion. Afterward, both my forearms felt really locked up for about a week, and ever since I've been dealing with pain in both although it's worse in my left arm. Weightlifting used to be an addiction of mine, I'd go months and months without so much as a small cheat meal. And since I've had to stop I've been depressed ever since. Going from 145-176lbs.

Believe me man, I know exactly how you feel with chronic pain.

Training becomes a great form of stress relief, especially knocking the crap out of a bag, and I really miss the pumped high.
I'm 41 now so my focus is the lose the extra weight and keep the heart healthy. Ripped was a few years ago for me and good while it lasted.

Good luck getting back into it my friend.

I'm building up slowly with the Christmas period in mind. Come new year the scales and discipline will be coming into play. 16Kg kettlebell will probably have go into retirement.

Just done a conversion, I've gone from 182lbs to 205lbs in three months.
I'm 6'2".

I'm 27, and all goes well with my pain management I want to stay in shape the rest of my life. I always wanted to be a guy in my 50's and maybe 60's who's still in great shape. That's a hellva jump in weight man, you should be proud. I started working out at 23, but I just lost 3 years of progress. I might try kettlebells one of these days, I've been using just free weights.

I'm about 5'8, wish I had your height :lol Although since I'm short, it gives me an edge with pullups since I don't have to get so much weight up to the bar. I used to do super wide dead hang pull ups like they were nothing, it's going to be a long time before I get back to that. I really miss how my lats used to be, I really had a wide V shape.

I can recommend the kettle bells.
I used free weights and power station for a couple of years but it gets rather boring. Got into kettle bells and free standing punch bags which I used in the garden, much more varied. Great weight and aerobic workout.

I have a punching bag but I took it down since that room turned into a storage closet. I used to hit it, and a speed bag to work up a sweat. I miss it. Nothing more satisfying like hearing the dudda dudda of the speed bag.

Agreed. I had to sell mine to make room for a dip station though.

Yeah I used to use chairs too. But I got a little worried about the instability of them since they weren't the bed chairs for it. When I first started out, I would use the edge of a desk since my triceps weren't developed yet.
