Too bad they aren't releasing the original THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD on BD around the same time. Would make for a nice triple feature.

I was actually impressed by the trailer. The effects look fine to me.
See thats what scares me. The trailer tone did look great, as did the fx, but that's a 2 min trailer. How will they hold up for 90 min?

i dunno the effects looked really fake to me. Thats the problem with special effects, our eyes are naturally able to see how fake they are.
The effects in the original were epic. they looked sooo gross, but ironically everything looks so fake and plastic-y in the trailer.
still this movie got me pumped so regardless out of pure love for the original im definitely watching this.
p.s i really don't like the main chick, they should have casted a strong actor since Kurt Russel did such a good job in the 1st one

I was gonna say - all of the effects in the original are obviously puppets and prosthetics. Knowing that doesn't effect my enjoyment.

Saw this last night. It's not great, but it's soild. It's suspensful, and has some pretty gnarly images. The THING OUT's are insane. And pretty horrific.
Yeah...saw this last night too and it was quite enjoyable. Captured the suspense of the Kurt Russell movie very well.
I agree about the main character though. A stronger lead would have anchored the cast better. She did a decent job but her character seemed rather meek for a movie like this.
It has it's pure gross out moments but they aren't overly done so it fits in well. Nothing beats spider head but it holds it's own.
I'd see it again.

If you enjoyed the Carpenter Thing, you'll dig this Thing. It's just fun to see that creature in action again.
Came back from seeing prequel THING, and while it has its heart in the right place, this movie is pretty much a total mess.
For example:

Why is the THING attacking people for no real reason. It wants to hide (in the original), as it wants to spread to main civilization, but here, it seems to want to be discovered!!!! WHY?!?!?! Doesnt make sense.

It's trying to copy EVERYONE. You have to assume this is it's first contact with human beings. It has no clue what they are yet.
Now, why is The Thing running around in a monster? I dont know. Maybe it stopped caring. Look at the Blair monster. He didn't care any more, he was like "____ it".
Or...or...it used the other Thing as a diversion so it could become that one person (negated for spoiler's sake).
But it doesn't matter. It's a cool as monster movie. We need more monster movies.
