I would dearly hope and pray that the Orthanc walls background is part of this diorama. BUT ..... I highly doubt it based on the first two and other series dios that the company has already released. It they do put the walls in there its a sign of a giant step forward. A true diorama is a great deal more than just a couple of figures arranged on a base.

Obviously Dardlord Dave has already seen this piece up close and personal..or at the very least he's seen pic's the rest of us are not privy to yet.

I'm very interested in this one (this is definitely a scene that any fan can get excited about), but I'm going to wait until we see more pictures before I get too excited. I want to see Saruman's face better. It's too hard to tell from that angle whether the likeness is good or overblown.

Wise words! Before I get too excited I'd like to see the whole thing as well. From what I can see of the Saruman sculpt it does look like a very nice resemblance...and as an added bonus it actually looks like there's some emotion in his face!

gandalf vs. saruman inside orthanc is just what this line needs. seems the pf, ls busts, and dios have shown only marginal popularity. 1/6 is still looking desireable though. i think a big problem with the pf, ls busts and dios is alot of the subject matter has been represented by the weta sculpts. if ss is going to be successful with them, they will need some fresh subjects.

how about barad dur, a pf of the mouth of sauron with his steed, a dio of arwen carrying frodo to rivendell being chased by the wraiths across the river, the fellowship inside the mines of moria or mount doom? fresh is needed now.

now that's what I'm talking about :clap...though do you really think SS is going to do a PF that requires a 1/4 scale horse :monkey2

Exactly! that's what stopped me from buying the Aragorn on the Walls of Helm's Deep diorama. I loved the scene, the uruks and the likeness of Aragorn, but the total lack of expression on his face made me pass. Now let's hope they got the likeness of Saruman and Gandalf right...

That is exactly how I felt as well! Though I did finally cave in, and bought one last week. At $150 I couldn't turn it down. Now if I can only find someone to resculpt the face.....

I've been saying it for years and I'll say it again.
HIGH ELVEN INFANTRYMAN PF, :rock :rock ..pretty please Sideshow :drool

This Vs piece looks great so far, can't wait to see more pics.

Off topic but Polylord I looked at your collection site and I LOVE the custom work you are doing, particularly the walls of Moria(one of my favourite scenes) and the Argonath. :rock :rock. They look awesome!!!

Where did you get one for such a great price? I've been looking for one as well but they're very close to retail everywhere.

I found one on Ebay from a reliable retailer. There was another one in an Ebay store with a "buy now' of $170 . It sat there for 4 days before someone finally scooped that one up as well. I did post something about that somewhere in the LOTR forum....

The face is fine. Looks pretty close ti Viggo and IMO is a better sculpt than the WK LSB.

You're right! There is nothing wrong with the sculpt. I think the resemblance is much better than any Weta sculpt of Viggo. I was referring to the lack of expression on his face. One of the things I really like from what I've seen of this new dio. is the expression on Saruman's face

I think that the likenesses have all been great so far with the LOTR dioramas and it looks like this will be a very great line as it continues to expand.

I have it too... and some rage or anger on his face would have worked a whole lot better, at least IMO :D

Will have to agree 2 disagree then. :)

It works for you, but that doesn't mean that it works for everyone else. It's all subjective. And there really isn't any need to roll your eyes just because someone says something you disagree with, is there? Most people take that as a sign of disrespect.

I meant without having to SPELL IT OUT that it works for me. I didn't say it works for everyone did I?

I put the smilie in there to show I disagreed. Didn't realize I needed your permission RD. The last part of your user name may be dad but the only Dad on here that I "HAVE" to be talked down to by is JDad. I take you talking at me with the tone your post gives a sign of disrespect. :)
