This was a paint-by-the-numbers episode, a "Look how much Carol has grown as a person - spousal abuse victim cum survivor cum warrior cum savior - You go girl!" before Gimple and Co. whack her. Wheeeee!

Were you watching The Walking Dead **** parody or something? Lol

Otherwise he'd have said: spousal abuse victim sperm survivor sperm warrior sperm savior. A'doy!

What was the meaning behind the flashbacks? I feel like it was more to show what Carol's been up to since being cast out of the group since it seems that every scene had something burning I think...

Sometimes I think I'm watching a different show than some other folks...

Carol ran in front of the car on purpose. They saw the car coming from inside, they knew it would get there and it was a race, and she knew they wouldn't make it. She ran in front of the car to save Daryl - the entire episode is designed to show you how Carol has turned into a person of action. She makes decisions quickly and acts on them, from what she did at the prison, to what she did with the girls, to what she did at Terminus. She made decisions about what she felt had to be done to save others, and she acted on those decisions without consulting or asking permission. She did the exact same thing here - she saw the car coming, knew Daryl and Noah weren't going to make it out, and sacrificed herself for their benefit. It's not quite what we had expected, i.e. she's undercover, but this also works within the character they've created with her, and expectations about her behavior.

At least that's how I saw it.

And yes, the fires mattered - ignoring the obvious title of the episode, Carol even says that each person she becomes gets burned off.

You might be watching a different show. :lol

Sorry, but I think Carol got hit by the car - plain and simple. People have placed Carol on this "infallible, bad@ss" pedestal and think that everything she does is calculated and exactly what she had planned. Yes, she is tough and can handle herself, but even she is still prone to accidents and unplanned things happening to her. She even said it in the episode when Daryl asked her what would have happened if he hadn't saw her at the car last night. She said she didn't know. She is making it up as she goes along just as much as everyone else is in this savage world.
