The priest, father Gabriel, is right though. Rick and the gang do plan on taking the community over by force. Rick and Carol have said as much. They retrieved their weapons, they plan on overtaking the community, Carol is threatening children with death threats and Rick has been contemplating killing Pete (and possibly committing adultery) even before he "knew" the guy was involved in domestic abuse. If it comes down to it, Rick and Co. would kill everyone in the place for the group.
That whole "satan" and evil crap Gabriel was spewing though was ******** no doubt, but he is right that they've been planning a hostile take over that will effect the Alexandria community negatively. I also think Gabriel is going to atone for the **** he's done. Let's not forget, the guy didn't let his parish into the church and let them die outside. The group knows this. He was in the thick of it with them, everything from accidentally luring the hoard to the chapel (only to be saved by Michonne and Carl), to eating/dining on dogs them. I think he knows he's just as guilty as any of the group and might even be including himself with their "evil". I mean, he wasn't eating those strawberries that were given to him, instead he looked like he felt guilty and he ****ing ripped that bible to shreds.
I also don't think Deanna is going to buy his story 100%, even when she finds out that her son is dead. They recorded every member of the group. Rick literally told her that they did ****ed up **** and warned her not to let anyone in. There's really no surprises there. With Maggie overhearing the whole thing, the situation won't last that long.
