So I imagine the SDCC trailer will feature all the characters in it?...Would they really film numerous scenes with a character just to cut it all out?

Well you know trailers... and marketing for that matter. The Civil War trailers erased Spidey from the airport lineup confrontation, and all the poster advertising heavily featured Sharon Carter instead of Scarlet Witch, when Carter was only a side character in the actual movie.

I should have clarified that it gives them the ILLUSION of empowerment.

I understood, but I was hung up on the emotional feedback loop. They feel powerless but are they really? And to seek the feeling of power, do they abandon any real power they have? It's like a hall of mirrors consuming the object reflected.

I think the trailer will have plenty of Rick's group. The trailers for previous seasons (S4 and S5 come to mind) have contained things that were entirely misleading, so I have a feeling that a few fake scenes were filmed with the Lucille victim(s), specifically to put those scenes in the trailer and throw everyone off.
