I read the ratings for this season are the worst in 4 years. Wonder if people really did quit the show after that cliffhanger.

I just crunched some numbers on season viewing averages:

Season 1 5.23 million
Season 2 6.91 million
Season 3 10.75 million. 10.5 million avg for first 4 episodes
Season 4 13.36 million. 14.07 million avg for first 4 episodes
Season 5 14.38 million. 15.18 million avg for first 4 episodes
Season 6 13.15 million. 13.32 million avg for first 4 episodes
Season 7 13.1 million (to date for first 4 episodes)

Yeah, I had nothing better to do than figure that out. :lol

I have loved the new season so far. No complaints from me.

But you have to acknowledge that the ratings post-season 7 premier have been the lowest since season 3.

I'm not saying they probably aren't down, just that despite that, they're still the highest rated show on Sunday night.

True. I think a lot of people just watch the premiers and the finales. It's a bit like being Catholic. Go to church on Easter and Christmas. Stay away the rest of the year. :lol

Probably cuz everyone knows the formula, nothing has been happening in the middle of the seasons.

I'm glad that the world is finally acknowledging that this show is boring and has been for quite a while.

I love seasons 1,2 and 3 but ever since season 4, it has been a real effort to watch. You get the occasional good episode but it just doesn't happen enough.

Shows like Breaking Bad, Homeland, Hannibal, Game of Thrones and Westworld manage to have entertaining episodes inbetween their season openers and finales.

The end of the world setting is proving to having its limitations - the writers have very little else to explore currently and it shows. Because the small group of characters were the focus of earlier seasons, the show could set up interesting plot points and tensions - the cast is so large now that it has lost focus. There are so many no-named extras (budding amateur actors) filling up a lot of screen time, that there doesn't seem to be any development for the main cast. The walkers offer zero threat now and the violence surrounding Negan has been very off-putting for a lot of people.

I loved this show but I think it has had its day.

The show might benefit from confirming an end point. I'm not sure how strong the present comic story lines are but it's hard seeing how they can top the Negan/Saviors storyline for the TV show. Have the group hit rock bottom during this season and build towards all out war and end on a strong story.

Just because some of you find the show boring or whatever, doesn't mean the majority of the fans do. According to Pix's stats, the show is still pretty popular and up in ratings since it's debut.

I noticed on Facebook that a few people are waiting until Negan's storyline is over before watching again because they find him too unsettling.

They're Ok with people's faces being devoured and intestines ripped out by zombies......but Negan is unsettling.:lol

Probs the same people who watched the season 6 cliffhanger. Waited 7 months to discover who died. Thought it wouldn't show it. Shocked that despite all the promos and talk about the show someone gets their head bashed in.
