They must come back next season is(All out War) guns blazing and zombies gnashing.....thats what Gimple promised it would be. If he delivers....it would bring back some credit to this lame duck season.

As far as directors.....only the episodes Directed by Greg N seem any good anymore......he should hand the SFX reins to his crew, and direct every episode.

Or put two stories per episode and cut back and forth. We didnt need to see daryl being tortured for an hour. That could have been cut. Between one of the other episodes

So, what was the deal The Scavengers had with Negan? I thought she said 10 people, did that mean they wanted 10 Alexandrians? If so, what were they going to do with them?

I find it odd that "The Scavengers” would make a deal with Negan as now they have exposed their community / location to him and naturally Negan will now want half of everything they scavenge!!
So as we all were surprised by this twist I think we were all coming from this understanding.

Been ages since I watched the first season but gave it a go last night. Building a season 1 custom Rick dawl so I wanted reference. The zombies have changed quite a bit over the years.....they climbed fences, tried opening doors, ran in the first two episodes of season 1.....now their lamb for the slaughter.

frank darabont was making interesting smarter zombies.
He wanted the zombies to be smarter and more dangerous.

Then when he got kicked out amc made them into stupid zombies

Explains it....amazing how much one forgets over time. Makes a heightened sense urgency when they have a resemblance of intelligence.

It is pretty disgusting that they fire frank darabont because of frank wanted some episodes different from the comic where they show the fall of atlanta

But now amc milks the crap out of each episode by recording dull long scenes that dont add anything to the plot...

Bottom line. Darabont didn't have a clue what Kirkman's universe would allow. Thats not the kind of zombie story Kirkman was telling. So, for better or for worse, Darabont (and Mazzara) rightly got the boot.

Yeah true but what we got now is not that much better

While I'll always be thankful for them getting the show going, they really didn't understand the source material. If you have your own ideas for a zombie story, make your own zombie story! Don't get the rights to something that already exists and want to change it dramatically! I had heard he wanted to dedicate episodes to finding out how individual walkers came to be. I think the season 1 webisode on Bicycle Girl was probably how that would have played out. Interesting for a one off, but would get very dull very quickly.

For better or worse, Gimple has really stayed truer to the comic's than any of the previous show runners. Sure they've added and remixed things here and there but there hasn't been any CDC detours expect perhaps Terminus, which they turned into the cannibal arc from the comic. They really slowed things down too much this year and I'm a little unsure how next season will play out. I have to imagine it will be a full season of war as I don't picture them doing the time jump the comic did mid-season. I'm not sure if 16 episodes of war will be amazing or tiresome yet.

I do prefer the season 1 walkers though. I love that they would actually sit down and be quiet. It made them freakier in a way. Now they're permanently moving and make rarhrrrrr sounds.

Yeah, Darabont is actually a filmmaker that was creating mini movies made for tv whereas the stuff we've been getting for the last couple of years with the current show runners (and Kirkman, Gimple) are long, drawn out, fluff stories that go in circles. I think the sole reason the quality of the show has dipped is because they bleed out as much material as they can so they always have x# of episodes and seasons. They pad it up with garbage.

That's why you see, "Walking Dead could go on for another 20 years!" and "the comic series could go on forever!". With that mindset, you won't get much quality storytelling.

But yeah, yeah, "hurr durr, Darabont was gonna make one episode that didn't focus on Rick and was going to show how the outbreak went down, OMG, cut him loose, he isn't sticking to Kirkman's original vision and source material!!!!", meanwhile we get awful filler episodes of characters nobody likes or cares about constantly. I'd have taken Darabont's ONE episode of how Atlanta fell, over an episode of ****ing Tara doing absolutely nothing or Morgan overstaying his welcome with perhaps the most perplexing arc and biggest cluster**** of motivation I've ever seen in a character.

I disagree with this. If you want it true to the comics then just read the comics. It's the same thing just on tv with a ton of commercials. Not only that, it's watered down. Seems pointless to me. :dunno

I liked Darabont's vision more. It was TWD but with an interesting twist.
