Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Do pop culture zombies exist in TWD universe? I don't remember anyone talking about Romero films in the show.

Nope. Hence why they don't say the word "zombie." The only reason it's in the comic now, is Kirkman slipped up during editing.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

No, I don't believe they've ever referenced any other zombie material.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I dunno why they've never thought of molotov cocktails...big group of zombies. there has to be plenty of flammable material still laying around

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Oh I agree. I disagree with it, but I'm not saying it's not real.

But I do think most of us would still like to keep that shred of humanity. I personally wouldn't do something like that. Might not survive because of it. But that's on me.

We can all say what we'd like to do. But until we're placed in this type of situation, NONE of us know what we'd actually do. The human instinct to survive is one of the most powerful forces within us.

Failed tactic. You're not going to be more than 20ft from them with a flamethrower and when you burn the horde, that's gonna turn their attention to you the minute it starts roaring, as well as every other zombie in the area. How fast you think you're going to run with those bigassed tanks (it's more than one) on your back? So you hide. Now you have a walking inferno (literally) following you and surrounding where you're hiding. Zombies that aren't on fire, quickly catch fire with minimal contact against those who're already burning, causing a fire that not only takes hours to go out (humans burn for a while, like candles), but possibly never given the amount of new zombies showing up for the fire show/bigassed smoke signal. If the fire doesn't kill you, smoke inhalation or oxygen depletion will. Of course, this is assuming they don't catch you while you're retreating, paw at you, breaking the hose from the tank to the ignition causing a leak which catches fire and causes the pack to flare and you to catch fire yourself and die one of the most painful death's possible. Either way... you're dead.

This :lecture I don't think fire in general would be very effective against zombies unless ti's powered by rocket fuel lol. I remember watching something on the Military Channel about the war in the eastern front where German soldiers would use flamethrowers to burn out Russian snipers who were hiding and it could take up to a minute before the target finally died (usually from shock of smoke inhalation) and usually the target was running around in circles in pain. Zombies probably don't feel pain so they'll still be after you even if they are on fire and the only thing worse than a horde of zombies chasing you, is a horde of zombies on fire chasing you.

They also don't breathe, so smoke inhalation or asphyxiation won't kill them either. So until the fire crisps up that pituitary gland, they're on you like flies on ____. I also forgot to mention collateral damage with them setting fire to anything and everything they touch, beit potential supplies or even the vehicle, dwelling you're hiding in.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Yeah, really a semi-auto rifle for long range and a good close range object like a baseball bat are the best weapons you could have against zombies. Anything else is ineffective or inefficient in taking them out quickly. Although the crossbow does make for a great silent alternative to a gun on the show. I have to admit I never thought about stealth when dispatching zombies before, but it totally makes sense... as far as making sense of zombies goes :lol

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

A zombie wouldn't have a functioning pituitary gland.

That's the part of the brain where the reanimation occurs in the show, newb. :pfft:

I am pretty sure the reamination occurs in the brain stem, not the pituitary gland. Both are in the same relative location though.
