I take it this wasn't the big spoiler, but thats great news, to know its coming, to know he won't be toned down, and John Hawkes is the man. He's awesome in Deadwood and Eastbound but he's correct that he wouldn't have been right as such a character.

I wonder if that picture of Dale with the gun pointed at his head was held by Daryl? In the season trailer we see Daryl tell someone "Sorry, brother" maybe he's telling Dale that. I highly doubt it Merle.

I can see Daryl putting Dale out of his misery if he gets bit by a Walker. Man, I didn't think it was possible to like Daryl any more than I already do, but if this happens he would be my hero.

Hawkes would have been perfect in the role. Really wish he would have taken it. Mix his roles in Winter's Bone and Martha Marcy May Marlene and he would have easily outshined the rest of the cast.

Sorry to break the spoiler streak but I was a bit taken aback by how disliked Shane was here. He's actually pretty popular at several other places I frequent. I personally am not a big fan of his and have argued with them on that point, then come here and am like...hey wait a minute and find myself on the other side lol! None of it really matters once Dale goes 'nam flashback/Last Starfighter and unleashes his Death Blossom and kills all traces of the zombies anyways. /spoiler

They did make the right choice. It's just a shame he turned it down and they went with a backup.
