Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

In order to turn, you have to die from bite. Last season showed this. So far, Its obvious that the only way to trasmit it is through a direct bite. At the CDC last season, the scientist showed them evidence that the "zombification" doesnt occur until the brain turns off, then only the motor skill section of the brain somehow come back to life.

No, they've gone out of their way - until the dead cops - to NOT show anyone die of anything other than a zombie bite. There's been no evidence that you have to be bit to turn. You have to die to turn - and there's no reason to think that there isn't more than one virus or infection at work.

In fact, if this virus is an engineered virus, there's good reason for those creating it to build in multiple effects or multiple virus'.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

One thing that bothers me is the man who hang himself in the woods. Obviously he died from the hanging and then his legs were partially eaten while he hung there. So he was dead first and then reanimated sometime after his death, either by 'the virus' or from the bites. I am thinking the bites wouldn't matter after you are dead because there is no blood flow to infect the body. So maybe it would be something already in them.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I assumed he was already biten when he decided to hang himself. :dunno

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

i thought zombies didn't eat/attack other zombies?..........the guy in the tree would have had to have been freashly dead or still twitching for other zombies to feed on him then........:dunno......wouldn't he?..........:cuckoo::thud:

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Like others have said, I think the virus is present in everyone, but it is either latent or at a low enough level that the body/immune system can keep it in check. People that get bit by a Walker are exposed to a higher level of the virus that the immune system cannot handle and they develop the fever, die and reanimate.

The poem he penned and pinned to the tree next to him said he'd been bitten by a zombie, and that's why he hung himself. Daryl made a comment that he was too stupid to even do that right.

TRUE!
So the assumtion would be that theyr'e ALL contaminated and once they die, from zombie bite or natural death, they reanimate.
DAMN talk about a bleak outlook on life !

Your assuming zombies fed on him. No reason to believe animals wouldn't eat him too, although I'm not sure how tasty zombie meat is. Then again, just because their dead wouldn't deter many animals.

The fat guy in the bar wasn't killed by a head wound by Rick. Maybe we'll see him come back?

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Rick did put a bullet in his head after shooting him twice.

Yep, another indication from the writers that Rick knows.

And whether they have any conscious as a zombie - do you know? Is there any soul left? We've seen them have some semblence of past memories (remember the mom last season coming back home), so can we really be sure they are truly mindless? The guy at the CDC wanted to be pretty damn sure he didn't end up that way...

Nothing indicates he died right away from hanging. As was said already, Daryl even hinted that he hadn't hanged himself right either.

That was confirmed at the CDC though, when Jennings said that (paraphrasing) everything that makes you who you are is gone. The virus just reactivates the motor functions.

EDIT: I just had a thought reflecting on Rick's comments to Shane at the fence. It's gross, unethical, and silly at the same time, and likely a topic considerably too taboo for the show to touch on, but if zombies go ape____ at the scent of blood, how will they act with the women and their cycles? It's not like they can run to the store and buy feminine hygiene products which would mean resorting to more primitive means. I won't go further into details, but the "scent" would be there, and a lot of it. Especially considering when there's a group of women, their cycles change to coincide with each other. :lol
