Calling me Jim is a lot like calling me Dale, and calling you Randall is a lot like calling you Shane, but with a modicum of respect.

Randall was a rapist, jerk.

Call me Shane. I'll do anything it takes to keep my family and loved ones safe even if that means killing the pope. :lecture:lecture:lecture

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Regarding Laurie and whether she manipulated Shane:

Not a fan of Laurie, but I don't think she talked to Shane with the intention of making him unstable (or even more unstable), since if that was the case, what if Shane does suceed in killing Rick or doing something "bad" out of "obsession" over Laurie? But of course, maybe Laurie IS that dumb and manipulative that she's willing to put her family at direct risk.

Regarding Shane and his intention for Rick:

I think he had a lot going on in his mind but nothing solid, because he was confused because Rick is still / was his friend:
-lead rick to the bad guys and see what happens and so be it
-lead rick to walkers and in chaos maybe he'll (shane) submerge as the only survivor
-lead rick to the woods and maybe something will happen and they end up trying to kill each other, and he (shane) survives.

But the fact that the faceoff took place so friggen close to the farm (close enough to the farm for Carl to book it over, and close enough for the viewers to see that they were out of the forest and close to the farm), makes me think that Shane wasn't able to come to any conclusions as to what to do, but since Rick confronted him, he decided that it was "as good as anyplace" to do the faceoff. In conclusion, imo, he had a lot of loose plans but wasn't able to commit to anything out of his clear confusion and inner struggle, and Ricks confrontation gave him the momentum to "accept" the "accusations".

I like to think it was simpler than that. I believe Shane just wanted to kill Randall, regardless of the reason anymore, for days he has been wanting to do it. He didn't think them driving an hour each way was worth it just to drop Randall off somewhere again. Shane even offered to go with Daryl in place of Rick (so I don't think he was planning to have Rick kill him, or vice versa).

Shane had it with Randall, he killed him and then realized he needed a cover story. So he just told them that Randall hit him and escaped. Then at that moment he saw him and Rick were alone in the woods/field, maybe he could kill Rick and finally have Lori, Carl and the group to himself. But even in the end Shane could not kill Rick.

I don't think Shane was actively trying to kill Rick, but he was aware that if the situation presented itself, he'd give it a try. He chickened out though.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

I said you were acting like a ******. Seemed like an accurate educated response to me.:dunno

"Quit being a ******" =/= "You're acting like a ******"

Basic English comprehension. One identifies the individual as a ****** while the other implies behavior. In either case, you still violated forum rules because you couldn't develop a counter argument to the post you quoted and by your own admission, felt "stupid." I fail to see how that's my fault. Do you often blame others for your own shortcomings?

He might have been a rapist. Shane was undeniably a murderer. And it wasn't his family. Would you murder in cold blood to steal another man's family?

Disagree 100% "Murder" is entirely subjective. If someone broke into your house and you killed them, most of the people here would see you as a murderer despite the fact that your safety and security were at risk. As I said earlier, it's all about perception and most here don't have the slightest clue what it takes to live in a world where your life's constantly in danger and security is a matter of life and death. And Lori and Carl were his family. I can only hope that should I ever be in the same situation, there is a man willing to take on my family as his own.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

By stealing someone else's.

What was stolen? For all intents and purposes, Rick was dead. The military were shooting live people in the hospital and Shane's actions saved both their lives, as well as Lori's and Carl's. And we already know through the show that the relationship wasn't immediate. We also know that Lori was questioning the marriage and wasn't "in love" with Rick anymore, from the flashback when Shane tells her about the shooting.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Shane was and A---ole pure and simple. Im glad he got shanked and zombified in less than 5 minutes!

It seemed to take Amy a lot longer to turn. Shane turned in like 3 minutes, maybe less. Maybe a-holes turn quicker?

I'm not going do the metaphor game, "if you have a thing..ect" but it ceased to be his family the moment Rick came back.

He unfortunately grew accustomed to them, well...the rest is history.
