Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

The grenade came from Grimes when he was loading up at the police station. She kept it the same way they kept all the weapons, I didnt think it was random at all. As soon as she reached in the purse I knew she was going for the grenade, it only made sense at that point. I didnt see any other way they were getting out of that buliding. Overall though, it was pretty awesome.

As for a cliffhanger I agree, wasnt much there unless you count the whisper into Grimes ear at the end before they left.

Actually, the grenade came from Rick when he was in the tank. And yea, I didn't think it was that random, since they'd set it up well in advance. It's not exactly like they'd come up with a weapon like that and leave it behind.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Good thing Carol carries a grenade in her purse.

That was pretty random. Very deus ex machina.

Oh well, I'm very happy with the season. It's more or less what I wanted, just a different perspective from the comics. An opportunity to explore the road less traveled.

Yes, the grenade was a contrivance, even though her explanation of how she came into possession of it was reasonable.

Anyway, I thought AMC did an admirable job with the short first season. There are a lot of problems I could mention here, but they don't drag down the ship too much. And now, the wait until next Halloween begins.

I immediately remembered Rick having a grenade early on when she pulled that out of her purse. That was just awesome!

And I loved the whisper thing. I'm thinking it's the same thing the others speculated and will make for some interesting situations next season. :panic:

Michael nailed. The grenade came from the tank. This was not random what so ever and setup perfectly for the show. Like she said in the show when she was cleaning his clothes, she found the grenade in his pocket and kept it. It was more predictable then random. :)

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

yeah my bad :) thats right, it was from the tank, for some reason I had it in my head that he got the grenade from the police station when he was grabbing all the weapons and gearing up, but predictable is right, it worked though so I had no problems with it.

Regardless...its going to be a long wait for season 2. I guess we just wait for the dvd/blu release and hopefully they'll throw in lots of extras or something.

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

The finale seemed very much like it was shot without knowing whether there'd be a season 2. With no real cliffhanger or expectation of what's next, but more of a introduction to potential.

i agree. lots of potential to explore now that the series has taken off. i'm really looking forward to what happened to Merhle, father/son, and the family that went their separate ways.

on another note. whenever i see characters stop and give up on life i just have a hard time understanding why. i know they're grieving inside. i'm sure it has a lot to do with lost loved ones and mental exhaustion. well i suppose it's me watching and saying this because i'm not in their shoes. can't wait for season 2!

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Was anyone else a little disappointed at the lack of a cliff hanger ending?

A little bit, I hoped for a climpse of Merle, Morgan/Duane heading to the ATL and I know it would be sidetracking and unlikely but I'd love a scene showing what happens with Morales and his family. I also think a quick shot of Jim waking up dead thrown in a montage with the rest I mentioned would have been cool. I think now that the show has taken off we'll see a lot more confidence in the upcoming season, it seemed to me like the directions season went from time to time along with the lack of a big cliffhanger made me wonder if they weren't sure a season 2 would happen or not. Someone else mentioned that earlier in the thread and I agree with that too.

I still can't figure out why if Merle got the cube van then why didn't he go back to camp for his brother and some revenge. I'm guessing that will be shown early in season 2.

Only 48 more weeks to go until we find out - D@mn!!!!!!

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

Was the first season short because AMC wasn't sure the series would pick up!? Or will every season be equally short?

*EDIT

Ok I just read Season 2 will have twice as many episodes (13 instead of just 6) so that's good news.

We're almost left at a point were had the show not been renewed for a second season there would still be a bit of a finished feel to the show in terms of closure. They're out surviving and life is hard and dangerous both from inside and outside of the group and that's just the way it's always gonna be.

Anyone else think that Daryl is getting a little comically predictable? Every episode he goes to kill some one only to have Rick or Shane stop him.

Yes, I think he's tried to kill or wanted to kill almost every male in the show at some point but I still like his character though

If you really think about it, why would she keep a grenade in her purse of all things? maybe a hand gun?

Also, I didn't care for the scene with the old guy and older sister. it's like he totally ignored the black lady, and wasn't she part of the group?

Lori is pregnant. Makes sense that with the blood tests and the evasive answer Jenner gave Rick earlier when he asked about them, that would be what he told him.

yeah, thats gonna make things more intense IF thats what he told him? But ...

whos baby is it?

More like a cry for attention. :lecture
At least we won't have to worry about him posting in this thread anymore.

I'm interested in discussing a tv show. I think you are allowed to say what you like and dislike about it. I didn't mean to kill the buzz or anything. I just felt it started really strong and sorta fizzled out. Maybe what I was talking about has something to do with hiring new writers...
I have yet to watch the finale but I am excited to see if it changes my mind about it.

That's all. I don't really appreciate the hostility, I'm not lurking from under a bridge or anything.

That's what's so funny about him. He pretends to be this tough loner that only cares about himself and his own family (Brother) but in reality you can see in each episode he's in he DOES care about the group. He was genuinely pissed off about Glenn being kidnapped, and when Jenner opened the doors to the lab you notice he didn't just run off and go for self. First thing he did was call to the group to leave and helped everyone out.

First season of Breaking Bad was the same, and I suspect it was as a trial run.

Caring for the group is self-preservation. :horror

^ How do you know? I have zero idea what the plot will be for next season. They should've set something up. Didnt have to be a cliffhanger either.

I mean....I dunno. I WILL watch it...but i'll wait until a few episodes in. Watching Dexter, and then this isnt a good idea. I'm way too invested in Dexter. I feel nothing for these characters in this show outside of Rick. It was just too short. Needed more time. But I heard there wasnt much time.

Oh well. I do hope greatness will come next season.
Walking Dead >>>>>>> Dexter

Well I think he cared more for her since she and her sister were his reason for living after his wife and family were killed. Maybe he feels something for her. :D

Re: The Walking Dead - TV Series on AMC

You know what's funny about this episode? They went out of their way in the beginning to give Shane's character some good will from the viewer (through the hospital flashback), and by the end of the episode they squander all of that by having him attempt to rape Lori

There goes that, right? Suffice it to say, that never happens in the comic.
