With all the bad shooting going on, I'm trying to remember if Carl's ever missed a shot in the entire series?

How I see it, people suck and shooting people at close/far range. People can pull off headshots from a quarter mile away on a Walker.

For anyone who might know the answer to this (and you can simply answer yes or no)-

Is 'Rise of the Governor' worth the read?
Are these last few episodes (in terms of his character development specifically) influenced by it?

I read both compendiums but might want something for the Christmas list and something to tide me over until February.

The whole part with the sisters and the old man in the apartment came directly out if it. Its definitely worth the read. The Road to Woodbury too. Fall of the Governor pt 1 just came out recently and that's mostly novelization of the comic when the Governor is introduced through the part where Michonne has her way with him. I imagine part 2 will continue through to his death.

I just had this same discussion w/my sister (another TWD fan)
They can kill zombies with golf ballz at 500 yards, and are pretty accurate at kill shots generally, but when it come to automatic weapons when it counts, they don't seem to do too well.

Have you ever shot an automatic weapon? Being accurate with pistols is far easier than an automatic weapon - which is really only good for cover fire. Once you've shot one you'll understand why nobody can ever hit anything in movies or on this show with them

Have you ever shot an automatic weapon? Being accurate with pistols is far easier than an automatic weapon - which is really only good for cover fire. Once you've shot one you'll understand why nobody can ever hit anything in movies or on this show with them

Thank you. Besides a couple posters I doubt many of the naysayers have ever shot a gun or at least do it on a regular basis. Although the pistol shots are unbelievable they are grounded in reality as is firing an automatic weapon on full auto and missing so much. As you have said, full auto is only used for covering fire. Any kind of aimed fire is either single shot or 3 round burst. If the people shooting the automatics were actually shooting every one of them would be shooting towards the sky due to muzzle rise. As Oscorp says below, quit over analyzing everything and just enjoy the show.

Given Kirkman already pointed out the comic similarity in the preview, I'm betting she follows Rick's and Carl's tracks and meets up with them like she did in the comics.

Um.... no. It all depends on training. I'm better with an AR than a pistol, even using 3rnd bursts. Plus, there's the obvious benefit of better range, higher mag capacity and damage via a rifle slug.

Glad someone said it. Just keeping the trigger pulled, you're basically throwing away needless ammo unless it's for cover or at very close range. Muzzle jumps throws it all over the friggin place.

Ammo never really became a problem on the show, definitely in the comics. Although, recently they've found a way around that

I was in the Army for six years and fired both m16 and m50, and actually earned a sharp shooter badge in basic training before starting my medical traing at William Beaumont Army Med Center so you really shouldn't generalize about who knows what.

Right, with the proper training and practice, a rifle can certainly be the better weapon. But on the show that's not really feasible. They mostly stick with the sidearms they constantly have on their belts. Sure they are a little too good with those (like how does Rick hit anything in the head with his Python ) , but I didn't feel them not being able to hit anyone with the auto rifles was unbelievable.

I enjoyed this episode about as much as any so far....right up there with the S2 mid-season finale which also had a pretty emotional climax.

I haven't read the books so I go into most of this blind. My tendency is to over analyze, but I find myself able to sit back and enjoy this show despite needing some suspension of disbelief.

Herschel was a favorite of mine and I was legitimately sad to see him go. His arc from S2 on was great and he really filled a void on the show...curious if they replace that.

Rick's emotional side does get a bit much some times but I feel like he's been through so much and this is just what he's left with...it feels more realistic than if he was more commando. Maybe it's just the father/husband in me coming through but I'm ok with it.

The second half is set up to be really interesting with the groups left isolated....and as some have pointed out, a Tyreese and girls meet up with Carol will be fascinating.

I'm more convinced Judith his dead than the Governor at this point.

Not that Talking Dead has the definitive say on the matter, but the Governor, not Judith showed up in the memoriam.
