Yeah you're probably right. I was thinking...

KIRKMAN: I'm going to kill off Daryl next season
REEDUS: WTF?
KIRKMAN: But I want you to star in my new movie
REEDUS: Okay.

:lol

You want to start with Michonne taking care of Hershall's head at the beginning of the mid-season premiere? Or Daryl protecting Beth now that they're on the run because Rick was duped by the Governor?

Are you saying that Rick was responsible for taking care of Hershel's head??? :rotfl
And Rick should find a way to split himself into clones so that he can be in several places at once protecting Beth, Carl, Judith???

Your examples are examples of a GROUP dynamic, not just a single leader.

Rick was not duped by the Governor. He knew he was bad. He got the prison ready for the Governor's first attack last season and they kicked his butt. Beat them so badly that they turned tail and ran and then the Governor had a complete meltdown and killed his army. Rick then lead the group to Woodbury to find and finish off the Governor, but found Andrea and the rest of the Woodbury residents instead. He then turned things over to a council of people to make the decisions because he didn't want the constant pressure of the Ricktatorship anymore. He also wanted to focus on his family and regardless of any situation, they are always going to be his first priority and all of his decisions will be made with their best interests in mind.

Snake - you can't compare Rick to Daryl and Michonne. It is not apples to apples. Rick has two other people to consider when he makes a decision. Daryl and Michonne don't have any family left to worry about. They do now to an extent since they joined the group and view the group as their new "family". If Rick is doing such a bad job at being a leader, then why is no one else stepping up ? Daryl?? Michonne?? Nope, they continue to do their own thing. Carol? She keeps asking Rick to take charge again and she is on the frigging council!! :lol

But now I think realizes that the Ricktatorship is a necessary evil in order to get what he wants. He just wanted to go back to being a dad, but in order to get what he wants for his kids, he's going to have to be his own Governor -and I think that is what Rick was afraid of, why he let the council form in the first place. I'm hoping we'll see Rick return to his Season 3 opening self. He and the group were so tactical and cleared that prison with little effort. I'm not sure they could have done that in their season 4 cushy prison life style. Now that they are on the road again, they'll have to get hardened again like they were at the beginning of season 3.

Because the story requires it. If this was really happening, he would of not been leader this long.

Yep. I pretty much agree with this.

We usually see eye-to-eye on Rick, so I'm gonna chalk this up to you being overly defensive because of the other guys... :lol

Rick's mess. He believed the Governor would be honorable enough to trade Michonne for their safety, DESPITE her warnings and Merle's confirmation. He also continued to allow Andrea to go back and forth, selfishly instigating the issue. That's what ultimately lead to the attack on the prison. Plus, had Rick actually stepped up and spent more time fortifying the prison, Hershal and Michonne might not have been taken so easily. Instead, he ditched violence and became a tree-humping pigfarmer.

Because he was too EMO over the whole situation to keep up the "Ricktatorship." He even dismissed his newborn daughter and was forcing "Coral" into his stupid mentality, DANGEROUSLY ignoring the possibility of an attack, despite knowing to the contrary it could happen.

Um.... nope. He was duped by the Governor. Even AFTER what happened to Glen and Maggie added to the intel from Michonne and Merle, he still was considering trading Michonne for the thought of the prison being left alone. This is even after Hershall telling him not to trust the Governor. He was still going to go through with it. That's a special kinda stupid right there. And before you use the "He got kids though" argument again, remember, he actually thought trading Michonne would guarantee their safety after the Governor had Merle beat Glen and dump a walker in his room, and personally, nearly raped Maggie to get info. As a parent, that's the LAST kinda person I'd ever trust with the safety of my children at stake, let alone think would keep his word.

It's not that I hate Rick. I just wish (no pun intended) that he'd cowboy the **** up, already.

The Governor didn't nearly rape Maggie. :lol

This was nothing,

Glenn has acted more like an emo **** than Rick ever has. If Rick is lame and stupid to people now, how about the other characters? They're not much better and when/if they are, they're offed immediately. Just look at Merle.

as awesome as that spin off would be, my point is that they aren't going to kill him off unless he decides to leave the show and they are forced to

I realize that. But your point seemed to imply that people where saying Norman is getting fired from the show and I don't recall anyone saying that.

I'm just glad Dale is dead. He kept bringing human morales to the table everytime there was confrontation.
He's such a wuss and wouldn't last 2 seasons of this zombie stuff.

Oh wait...

Then why doesn't that apply to Rick as well?

Defensive? Maybe. Overly? Not at all. I am trying to understand why there is so much hate/anger/etc directed at Rick.

I still dont see how any of what happened is his fault. Is he partly responsible? Sure, but so is everyone else.

He was considering giving Michonne over to the Governor, but didn't. Even more, he owned up to his mistake to the whole group. Sign of a good leader to me. He had no say over Andrea's comings and goings. Actually she only visited the prison once that I recall. She was at the meeting, but not the prison. She did almost make it to the prison again before the Govenor sneaked up and "Jason"ed her. Don't even get me started on that episode. Easily the worst episode of the series for me and the point at which I wanted Mazzara gone. Hershel and Michonne were taken outside of the prison. All the fortifications in the world could not have prevented that from happening.

I can see your point here and partially agree. However, he was not alone in ignoring the possibiolity of an attack. Council's job at this point.

How can you say he was still going to go through with handing Michonne over to the Governor? He didn't. Considered it? Yes, but ultimately didn't. Could have, should have, would have, but DIDN'T.

It's not that I hate Rick. I just wish (no pun intended) that he'd cowboy the **** up, already.

If memory serves, Rick didn't change his mind until well after Merle had left with Michonne. So the fact that his dumb *** even considered it for as long as he did, vs. preparing the prison for an attack and developing a plan to take out the Governor at the meeting (which anybody would've seen as the trap it was), was the catalyst for everything that happened in the finale, and the majority of this season. Rick's intentional ignorance, questioning what even Hershall disagreed with, and inability to act cost him the prison, Hershall, etc.

nah...i think we just got our wires crossed, friend. let's get a good night's sleep and try again tomorrow.
