Didn't even bother with it for the first week since it's aired. I chose True Detective over this, the second part of this seasons been way too campy and silly with the writing.

In this case, yes. Trains just don't "unexpectedly" come around a corner:

On Thursday, February 20, Sarah Elizabeth Jones, a 27-year old Atlanta-based IATSE union camera assistant, was killed when she was struck by a train on a railway bridge near Jesup, Georgia. Jones was working on the set of the Gregg Allman biopic, “Midnight Rider”, where the crew had placed a bed on the train tracks as part of a dream sequence. When a train approached unexpectedly and struck the bed, Jones was hit by flying debris and fell into the path of the train. Seven other crew members were injured, one seriously.

Trains approach unexpectedly? Honestly it sounds to me like she's to blame and before anyone even asked that question they just turned her into a martyr.

Not much plot development, but pretty good character development for both Daryl and Beth, especially Beth.

Daryl is a great tracker right? How did he "lose" Tyreese and Co. trail? They were on the tracks. Why not stay on them until you hit a town or something? Living in the woods is not a viable option.

Snake skinning scene was cool.

I get the character development but this why it's going to take 16 seasons to catch up the comics, this and the 4 minute commercial breaks

Well the comic can be slow as well, but I don't think it translates well to the show. I think these episodes dedicated to each group is stretching this half of the season out just to fill it.
