I always liked his pistol and holster.
A black SAA with a 7"barrel chambered in 45LC is on my wish list of firearms. However right now I have to settle with my BB gun of a black SAA with a 7" barrel. Much, much cheaper.

Yes so realistic I am unlikely to watch it again.

Yes, it's one of those that doesn't call me back either.

Every episode presented a succession of horrors inflicted upon the characters, to the point there was no safe place to turn and with every encounter you expected the worst.

At least there was somewhat of a happy ending. It was a nice moment in the final episode when Sara briefly hugged Two Moons, and it was taken for granted that she would have a home with her and her son in California.

More Westerns of this calibre wanted.

One mini series that comes to mind is The English (2022).

Maybe not quite as bleak throughout as American Primeval, but much more stunningly cinematic.

The closest film to American Primeval that comes to mind is Brimstone (2016): https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1895315/?

When you think things can't get any worse for the characters, they do.

I wonder what John Wayne would make of it?

He would've hated it even more than Eastwood's westerns, for the violence and for its dismal view of the west.
