I guarantee this is the only VVitch discussion on the entire internet where we have Vanilla Phillip telling everyone to stop, collaborate and listen. So much for our high brow commentary. :lol

Reading, saying, thinking of Vanilla Phillip = LOL

Yeah, the high brow discussion kind of went out the window, didn't it? :lol

Say Vanilla Phillip 10 x :lol

Do people think that Caleb's...

soul was actually saved at the very end, or has he been damned to Hell?

It seemed to me that his prayer could have just the witch making a mockery of religion and faith through him.

I thought the latter was the case too, he reminded me of a tv evangelist.

I think that's purposely left up to the viewer, and you can interpret it either way.

I don't think being kidnapped equates to losing your salvation so I think his prayer and heavenly visions were legit. But I agree that it was ambiguous enough to interpret however you want.

Yeah, I interpret that way as well. And the prayer, while in (Old) English, almost sounded like something from a Latin homily.

You could even look at Caleb's demeanor and restful spirit when he laid back down as God reminding the family, right before everyone's eyes, that they can indeed keep their souls protected regardless of the nightmarish circumstances if they keep the faith. Thomasin saw that and said "no thanks, my life in the here and now is more important."

Read that the family in the movie are Calvinists, which are similar to Puritans, tried reading a bit about their beliefs before I started suffering an ADD attack.;)

I Only got as far as Total Depravity, which isn't far at all.

You know to this day I haven't seen a single trailer or clip of any kind for this movie. It was fun seeing it for the first time not knowing what the hell I was in for. :lol

This thread needs to get back on track...

[Contains SPOILERS for those who haven't seen the movie]

:lol

A pure full on trailer about a goat, people probably think it's Babe part 3. :lol

He was floating there for a bit like Regan Exorcist, right?

You know, I only saw one trailer once last fall and it really gave nothing away but i'm happy that was it, nothing else until SLAM, hit by a train carrying trucks filled with boulders!

You guys are gonna make me try and watch this movie at 1 in the morning haha. Great, nightmares here I come

The best thing to do is to go into this movie expecting nothing more than just a family drama dealing with their faith and place in society and it will serve you well.

This movie is very susceptible to being ruined by trailers and spoilers, go in with as little as possible and allow the tension to do its thing.

Look at superhero comic book movies you can go in knowing everything and still enjoy them because what matters is the spectacle.

I am very curious to see how this movie holds up on repeat viewings compared to those M Night movies but my gut feeling is telling me that this will hold up better than them.

You don't want to go in like JAWS did, go read his initial review. :lol

That's a fact.... The trailer itself would have hyped me up... But all the quotes had me so pumped for this film... When someone says "like your watching something you should not see" your mind tends to race and get excited for the horror that awaits you.

So I was let down... I knew I had seen a wonderfully made film but I was still left disappointed.

My friend who saw it with me said... Imagine how we would have felt about it if we knew nothing about it... I agreed and started to look at it that way. I realized I would have really liked it had I not read the quotes... I would have found it even creepier if I was not waiting for something that I thought the quotes promised.

Then I noticed I could not stop thinking about the film period.. Now I love it :)
