RPG isn't the issue. For my taste this game had too many menu's to figure out. There were just too many little things you needed to do while in combat. Too many enimies that simply totally over matched you in the wild. Like I said, this game was just too "busy" in so many areas. I love RPGs, but did not like this game. I also felt the controls were clunky.

I wouldn't agree. I've been playing it for a couple weeks now. At level 14 I think and I don't even bother with the crafting and potions or whatever unless the particular quest calls for it. I just use weapons and armor I pick up from enemies along the way and just repair them until something better comes along. I've managed to kick the ass of anyone I've come across unless they are a vastly higher level then just run away from them. My only real complaint is the crossbow is too weak. Archery was my favorite part of Skyrim.

The combat's pretty straight forward. You have an attack, dodge, and parry button, then there's a magic wheel to cast spells. That's it, nothing more.

As for the menus, you've got an equip menu, an inventory menu, and alchemy/potion menu, and an upgrade menu for leveling up abilities. That's it. It's really straight-forward. I dunno, it just sounds like you really never gave this game a chance.

Also, you've got to keep an eye on your character level. Don't engage in quests that require a higher character level than you currently have (eg. if Geralt is at level 4, you should avoid a quest that has a difficulty setting of level 10).

.
Different strokes.....you like the game and that's fine. I found it too "busy". You say there is this menu, this menu, this menu and this menu and that's it. Well to me, it's more menus then I feel like messing with. I just didn't like the game.

If you can't keep track of four main menus, I don't know what to say :lol. The game definitely has a learning curve, but it's rewarding once you get the hang of it.

Funny thing is, I never even made use of the crossbow after the first Griffin battle. I picked up lots of upgrades for it, but I always relied on the magic spells - Igni and Aard, instead.

I really only ever used the crossbow in the boat and underwater.

In the boat cause it auto aims to the nearest enemy, all those flying things in the boat.
And underwater is auto aims and one shots enemies.

It's not that it's too hard. It's that I'm a casual gamer who wants to play a game without this much crap to sift through. I don't like a simple button masher or something this involved. I like in between. Sorry if that's hard to understand.

^^this made me chuckle^^.

I was playing this quite a bit until Arkham Knight came out. I've only just started playing again. It's really fantastic. If it wasn't for the choppy framerate and endless bugs and glitches I'd say it's the best game of the year so far.

The new expansion is fun and all but the bosses are ridiculously difficult to the point where it's kinda sucking the fun of it.

I hear ya on this. With having a young kid I like the middle ground too with the complexity. I can see why people like this game but I know i don't have the long enough free/alone time in long enough spurts to delve into it the way it needs to be done to be fun for me.

Playing through Hearts of Stone now .... just couldn't be bothered starting again on Game+ .... don't have a 2nd run of 130hrs to spare right now...what with Fallout4 coming out :)

Surprisingly meaty DLC with a ton of dialogue/cut scenes, a lot of side quests and extra question marks on the map. I like it.

The frog boss is bizarrely hard though .... like x10 the difficulty of any boss in Witcher3....don't get that at all ... apparently to stop The Wild Hunt they should have just dropped the giant frog in the middle of the battle like Hulk in an Avengers movie.

I was debating on getting HoS, but just went with the few free quests and Game+ for now.

I feel like I want to replay in on + before playing HoS, as I felt my original play through on the hardest difficulty still was too easy.

I'm at the end of my first play through, decided to go with the the difficulty below deaths march and apart from the initial learning curve (first time playing any witcher game) it's been well easy, which i must say surprised me a little. Not easy enough that it wasn't fun but i have not sweated on a boss or roaming enemy yet - say in comparison to some of the other RPGS i've played and the difficultly of bosses or milestones.

I will be doing another run through on deaths march to get some trophies i missed, but wanted to know if i start a new game + can i go into HOS straight from it? or is it a stand alone type DLC that doesn't merge in with the original game world if you get me.

Also they need to sort out the leveling of the witcher gear for game + because all the standard armour looks pants in comparison.

I think it's recommended to be at Level 30 in the regular game, to play the Hearts of Stone expansion. I've got it downloaded through the season pass, but I haven't played it as yet.

Ah so the HOS quests and whatnot are able to be traveled to from the world map like the regular ones are/were.

I'm level 34 so i think I'll finish the game this weekend and start the new +.

This is an stunning game. I'm level 20 now. So much to do and explore. The quality of the acting and scripting is particularly impressive. It's not an easy one to get into, but once you do, it's worth the investment.

And I love Gwent! I wish they had made that multiplayer.

The only trouble now is Fallout 4 has shipped. Looking forward to that but need to complete Witcher 3 first :)

Heart of stone can be playable completely seperate from the main game or you can play it in the main game. It takes place north east of novigrad. Even on normal, some of the enemies and bosses are a huge pain in the ass. Super tough.
