I think about this quote from Stephen Fry every time I hear someone complain about being offended by something.

View attachment 274772

I've almost never been offended by stuff. I can count it on one hand.

1. a stand up I saw where the guy made fun of disabled people saying like "isn't it gross, I'd hate to be that. Because look at them" referring to degenerative diseases. Just not funny.

2. People talking trash/joking about my family. Only when it's people close to me

3. The proliferation of reality TV with literally the worst people humanity had to offer and glorifying them.

I don't think people can't or shouldn't be offended by some things, but it's gotten to the point that any little thing will offend someone to the point. Then the offended start a crusade to change something that doesn't need to be changed.

I think people forgot that they can just say "I don't like that." Or, better yet, just think it and then get on with their day.

This sounds like a microaggression to me

People who post while at work.

You get paid to do your job, not to slack off.

Oh lord, you can't stop can you? Of course my dumb ass is responding to you. You thrive off the attention don't you? The owner of the company I work for is perfectly fine with people surfing the internet at work. Just as long as your machine is running and it isn't interfering with your work.

A case from 10 years ago:

Ruling in the case of an employee who allegedly used the Internet for personal reasons during work hours, the judge, John B. Spooner, compared Internet use at work to reading a newspaper or making a telephone call.
"It should be observed," Spooner wrote, "that the Internet has become the modern equivalent of a telephone or a daily newspaper, providing a combination of communication and information that most employees use as frequently in their personal lives as for their work."

Said by someone with no responsibilities who has never worked a real job in their short life

The assumptions in this thread are great.

I'm a home owner well before any of you were :lol

Probably have a nicer place than most too :lol

No you don't. People who do don't brag about it in a condescending manner on a chat forum

Are you talking about the two assumptions you just made?

When you finally get to that court mandated therapy...it's gonna be some boring, garden variety insecurity **** for your therapist. :lol
