The rain just pours straight into your basement? Why doesn't the water cool the pump?
It goes straight into the sump pump hole. The sump pump is a pedestal type, so the water doesn't cool the motor like a submergible pump does. I had two of those down into the hole and three were running non-stop for hours. The main pump has slowed down and is now shutting off until the hole fills up again. It's really a big mess here.
If you would see my yard right now you'd understand.
The farm field across from me is a lake. If it got really cold now, you could use it for a ice rink.

We live at the bottom of a hill and get a lot of run off. The field behind us gets very wet. Garage has a hole for a pump, but we never have issues unless it gets ahead of us.

It's a long story, but we didn't have any problems until we were annexed into the city. They screwed us up. We only have problems with big, heavy rains like we had the last two days. Add to that the heavy snowfall we had prior to that and you get a mess. The town near me is sandbagging for flooding.....again. They have a river running right through the heart of town.

I just want to get my mother a few things but it's been so awful weather wise that I haven't been able to get out. I'm hoping to go tomorrow.

My daughter has an MRI scheduled tomorrow early, and where this imaging center is there's a pretty nice mall so Ill knock it out tomorrow. We draw names so its easy. I just have to buy for the person I picked and my girls. Giftcards=Happy Teenagers!

No, not serious. She fractured her wrist in August and developed a ganglion cyst in her wrist. It went away after the fracture healed but has come back but its deeper near her tendons and swells up. Its not big maybe a little bigger than a pea. The doc thought it was weird that it came back so she orderd a high resolution mri. If it is the same cyst and just migrated she'll likely have it removed over the summer so it won't interfere with school. I told her it was from texting too much!

I waited 15 minutes at a mall candy kiosk and when the second cashier finally showed up to work and took care of me, she decided that the worn off signature on my card required verification by driver's license, which was in the car, at the other end of the mall, across a frozen sheet of parking lot that I almost broke my neck on (thank you ninja-cat reflexes
