Possibly to do with his comments about water charges coming into effect in Ireland, they've been very controversial over here, and divisive. Neeson being opposed to them would be very much up the street of everyone protesting against them but there are those who think the protesters are ignorant, entitled etc etc and those same people would obviously attack a celebrity and rich person who would complain about having to pay for water.

Personally I just think, whether we should or shouldn't be paying for water in Ireland, the timing of the charges coming in could hardly be worse.
