You have more good advice than Prog and Ski put together. :lol

I'm sure...

Then you go ahead and be sure. I had no idea what the ____ Nam was talking about, and still don't, but thanks for trying to see past what you're afraid others think about you instead of trying to understand what I was clearly having difficulty articulating. Next time I'll make sure my analogy references crack whores so you don't feel persecuted. Unless, of course, there's something else I'm missing.

Fair enough, I had typed out a much more detailed response but deleted it. My initial post in this thread, while you were keen enough to catch on to what was supposed to be a vague reference, was not meant to be a public bashing.

You didn't ruin it. If I could I would restate what I meant.
I didn't intend to convey personal pride as much as "finally I'm not the only one seeing this".

I would have also posted "I love being wrong" if things turned out differently.

I have obsessive tendancies on a lot of things. Mt Dew for crying out loud I have a hard time going a day without.

What I don't do is ABUSE. I'm not getting wasted and doing anything harmful to anyone. I have a beer or 2, while watching tv and go to bed.

If I'm home alone and bored I might have 4 or 5 or a couple margarittas and while a bit buzzed come on here and joke around. I'm not trying to drown my sorrows or anything, which I guess is how I define an alcoholic.

You don't have to defend yourself about the beer as far as I'm concerned. I reached for the alcohol analogy because I have much more intimate experience with it than I care to, and I know the difference between a rotten drunk who should get their ass kicked and one who does not. I'm also in no position to be casting stones, given that I've overdone it in the past with my own choice of poisons.

I do appreciate you clarifying what you meant in the post. I'm a bit touchy on the matter since so many people are rolling in it, and I think it's ugly as ____. I find that kind of vindictiveness to be petty and self-serving, but to each their own.

You were right back then. I can give you that. Harsh bordering on brutal, and not one bit helpful despite your best intentions, but right.

being proven right in the end.

I get tired of this as it happens to often.:)

I used to be one of those. I never really did anything to anyone else...but I felt sorry for myself so pathetically all of the time that finally the last friend I had told me..."You are a lousy drunk". It sunk in and I changed...now I am as fun when I'm drunk as I am when I'm sober.:)

How did you change Darth Cruel? If you were able to change your behavior as a drunk I wonder if that signals a change in your inner nature.

I don't think it was anything that deep. I just made a conscious effort to concentrate on positive, fun things instead of self-pitying things during the process of getting drunk. The rest just fell in to place.

I am no lampshade-wearing party clown...but I can fill in some lulls in the laughter fairly well in a group that has already been warmed up by the lampshade guy (drunks are easy to make laugh..."good" ones, anyway).:)

And here is something that I noticed. Some may think I am a crakpot...but based on my experience, I honestly believe that hangovers are not as bad if you have had a "good" drunk.

Only because of your signature...:wink1:
