I really marvel at how personal people take others opinions on this election, to where it can strain or break a friendship. I disagree with opinions on here and friends of mine, but I don't hold like a grudge over it. This is another I reason to hate politics and I look forward to seeing this circus end so we can all go back to get ****ed by the government regardless of who wins.

that trump lost the debate so clumsily. hillary totally toyed and baited him.

He was terrible, but were those questions a joke? I know, let's skip the issues and ask why he called Rosie fat. Let's IGNORE all of Killary's scandals and let's ONLY "fact check" Trump. Let's ONLY silence the crown when they cheer Trump. The whole thing was a staged show.

Agreed. What possible relevance would the birth certificate nonsense have to the coming years? Why did we spend 20 minutes on that ridiculousness?

I didn't want to watch the debate last night but made myself. I don't know how anyone watched it and thought Trump did well. Hillary destroyed him. She was calm, poised, and gave much more specific answers than Trump. Even though he spoke more, she was in control. She hit him with some good zingers and constantly kept him on the defensive. There were several moments in which he would jabber on about some nonsense while not answering the actual question, she would give a concise answer, and he would state that he agreed with her. That's called winning a ****ing debate. The longer he had to talk, the more of a petulant child he became. Clinton was prepared while he wanted to wing it and he lost. Now this morning he's blaming his microphone for why he did poorly. :slap

Trump used it as a platform for getting into politics and only publicly agreed that Obama is a US Citizen 11 days ago--years after the issue (that never should have been an issue) was settled with the release of the long form birth certificate. To use a phrase that Trump voters should be familiar with considering his economic policy, that racism has "trickled down" to the section of our society that is angry about a black man holding the most powerful office of our country and contributing to the deepening problems concerning race relations across the country. Considering that the question asked was concerned with dealing with the problems we see today for race relations, I'd say it was pertinent.

Only managed to watch the last 30 mins. He's not impressive at all. Just kept interrupting while Clinton seems more adult. Previous clips of the debate are more of the same. Unfortunately, this country is screwed, no matter who won. Our options are the crazy or more of the same.

Read the dilbert article, gives a different hindsight

It all comes down to personal interpretation. I obviously saw a different Trump than what that writer saw. He rudely interrupted Clinton and Holt, couldn't answer many of the questions with specifics but still wanted to talk a lot so he sounded like a rambling fool, and became more physically agitated as the debate went on. Maybe Clinton looked robotic because she wasn't chugging water, making faces, and gesturing all over the place.

Yeah but compared to trump in the republican debates he was not that aggressive lol.

I do Agree he was more mellow than usual. He was brutal against rubio or jeb or cruz. I know he lost the debate and she was more in control but the fact that he mellowed out i agree with.
She called him all kinds of names and made fun of him and she mocked him and the audience laughed at him but he never called her anything besides Secretary Clinton

Thats a huge difference :lol

I don't think he deserves any points for acting like a more rational human being when he's running for POTUS. That's like someone acting like they should get a clap on the back for putting food on the table for their kids--you're supposed to ****ing do that. He still didn't perform in a way that I'd trust him to talk to leaders from other countries and represent the US on the world stage in a positive light.

It was always going to be stacked against whoever was the Republican nominee.

I watched the debate with great interest last night a casual observer; as I'm Canadian and have no say in the upcoming election.

My thoughts: Hilary won the debate hands down. She was poised, concise with her arguments (although she needed to be fact checked on multiple occasions), she deftly handled most of the talking points, and was able to make Trump nod in agreement several times whilst arguing her points. She was weak on National Defense portion of the debate. I think she won the beginning and the end. So, decision Hilary this round. I will be interested to see if Trump participates in the next two debates.

Trump did as well as to be expected: he resonates with Middle America Blue Collar White Anglo Males. I do think he has some good talking points about the need to bring back Production jobs/ factory work to the States. His way of doing this was nonsense though--ripping up trade agreements was idiotic. He is not a Statesman, and will not be able to navigate world affairs.

Good luck Americans--you have a great challenge ahead of you in November, the decision you make is a tough one.

Nothing against you but this notion that despite being in the spotlight and running a multi-billion dollar empire for decades, he's now branded a racist when there's never been mention of it before is ludicrous

You shouldn't have anything against me because I'm not the one attaching myself to racist platforms or making racist comments. I'm commenting on what is going on in this election. Trump isn't doing anything to help himself when it comes to assuaging anyone's fears that he's a racist. During his campaign he's insulted every demographic except for white males. He continually spouts rhetoric that is negative toward African-Americans, Hispanics, Muslims, and women (unless they're pretty) and has attracted the backing of white supremacist groups all over the country. Last night, he couldn't articulate any answer that came close to showing an understanding of the racial tension in the country and more than likely didn't win over any votes from the groups he's alienating. The whole point of these debates is to show the country who you are as a candidate and how you compare to your opponent--all in order to convince the undecided to vote for you. The debates aren't there for people that have already made up their minds. The candidates need to sway more votes over to their side, and last night Hillary was more prepared and did a much better job of that than Trump.

He's not good a conflict resolution discussion. It's kind of funny though that regardless of performance, no one really won lol. We are all screwed regardless.

He has points that he could have hit on and articulated well but he totally whiffed on those opportunities (e.g. hillary's fundraisers, statements about standing behind americans are not really supported with her ledger, etc.).

She was poised, concise with her arguments (although she needed to be fact checked on multiple occasions), she deftly handled most of the talking points, and was able to make Trump nod in agreement several times whilst arguing her points. Good points. What's surprising is that he's not just getting support from white guys. That's been the assumption but somehow he's actually polling well with minorities as well (& not just religious minority). I'll say the challenge already presented itself and we all failed at this point. We allowed power hungry Hillary and imbecilic Trump to make it to final 2. It's crazy that this actually happened.

I'm glad somebody coached Trump enough so he stopped saying "the blacks" like he's done several times over the years. Holt seemed nervous to me and I think the pressure was a bit much for him. He got rattled when Trump challenged him on why stop and frisk was ended and if Holt had all the facts then he should have confidently informed the audience about what they were. Trump was all over the place on a number of occasions as usual, while Hillary remained calm but you see the steam coming out of her Joker smile on a few occasions. She did well, and he did well by his standards. I did feel like Clinton was being patronizing though when she was trying to correct Trump on the problems in the inner cities. He may have sounded ridiculous pointing out his properties in this location and that location, but it's not as if he was lying on the subject. I think she was trying to protect the Democratic mayors of those cities who are up for reelection. In the end, everybody tows the party line, which is another reason I hate politics.

They are indeed making it harder to determine who better deserves a punch in the face. Actual racists or those throwing around the term where it doesn't belong.
