They aren't dolls, much like the first action figures ever, they are 1/6 scale, um action figures. Dolls are stuffed toys.

I like to stuff Dolls. :lol

the 12" figures can in a way look like a "mini-me" or "mini-bruce lee" if refering to the enterbay figure.
A very good looking 12" figure will look realistic and would be like it came from one of those "honey i shrunk the kids" movies.

while a statue will also be a statue and a statue :)

would you call this a "doll"?

I'd call that an incredible mini-figure of someone :)

if our 12" collections could only look like that for every figure.

with a repaint, its possible :)

Wow what a feeble attempt to prove me wrong. Ever hear of a Kola bear? Guess what? They aren't bears. So what I'm saying is Barbie is an action figure for girls.

No, Barbie is a "DOLL" for girls, Action Figures are for boys (or grown men :D).

I believe it was Mattel (same company as Barbie) who coined the phrase "Action Figure" when they released Big Jim to clearly make a distinction between Barbie as a doll for girls and Action Figures for boys.

Actually, Hasbro came up with the term for their 12" G.I. Joe figures in 1964.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An action figure is a posable plastic figurine of a character, often from a movie, video game, or television program. These action figures usually are marketed towards boys. Redressable action figures are sometimes referred to as action dolls[1] as a distinction from those which have all or most of their clothes molded on.

Yeah and there is no diffrence really between a Gi-joe and a Barbie, so they are either both dolls or both action figures. MWC wrote a great article about this, you all should read it (Here is a bit of a spoiler, he agrees with me, or rather I agree with him. :D )

There's a big difference between a Ken doll and a 1:6 scale action figure. And we aren't talking about size.

Boy doll vs girl doll is how I see it. Put an army jacket on Ken and see what you get.

.....and you get this

that's kojun's by the way

p.s. that's not a big giant cat lol

Looks like Snakebeater. The cat I mean...:D

I'm also thinking of selling the rest of my figures. I've gradually sold off some but have kept a select few that mean more to me and are some of the companies greatest work. But even with these, I feel it may be time to go and completely move out of 1/6 collectibles. Includes SS Invisible Man Excl, Sovereign Studios Indy and Medicom Darth Vader:cool:

GI Joe has a gun = action figure

GUN = ACTION!

I say if it has a weapon, if it can be articulated into action poses, action figure. But I get "doll" all day long from my wife and her sisters. I say 1 word sums it ALL up...........................................................................................................................................................................TOY

They're all toys to me, I may not play with them like a kid, but I'd say futzing around with them in dif. poses and setting them up differently dictates playing, so they're toys and we're all happy and don't feel less masculine.
