I was all about the posing when I started collecting 1/6 and building Gundams a couple of years ago. But when Sideshow announced the TMNT license I knew I had to have them. Now whenever I look at my Donatello comiquette he just brings a smile to my face as I remember the good ol' days of playing in my bedroom as a child. I think statues bring a little bit more maturity to a collection and they have a certain charm that I think 1/6 lacks. Of course now that I have been bitten by the polystone bug I have PF Wolverine, PF Sabertooth, PF Gandalf the Grey, Raph and Mikey comiquette, and the IM MkVI Maquette on PO.

And you call yourself "Articulation junkie"! :lol

I started with the Star Wars 6", then the old Kenner 1/6, then Dragon 1/6, and finally Hot Toys. I have tried to get 100% out of 1/6th, but I keep buying more. Hot Toys really raises the bar on quality.

That said, Premium Formats are still superior in display and once you go polystone, you never truely go back. 1/6th are cool, but premium formats Definitely are the nextstep up.

Fellow collectors I'm having a bit of a "crisis." I've been collecting on and off for years mostly 7" figures with a couple 3.75" (The new Iron Man 2s) here and there. A month ago I treaded into uncharted waters when I purchased the Hot Toys Predator from the first movie....my first Hot Toys Collectible. This was as good an idea as bad since that has grown to now 2 Predators, Harvey Dent, and DX-01 Joker. Now this isn't a "Oh help me I'm addicted thread, but now that I've been spoiled by Hot Toys I'm sitting here looking at my other figures and for the first time ever I want to put the ALL away! This isn't good. All those years of collecting and.....I'm not interested in displaying them anymore.
I was you about 7 years ago, I left 7" collecting for 1:6th. Went nuts with 12"ers. However, recently gone back to 7" with the He-Man Classics & DC Universe. so you might regain your love for Them later on. But to be honest, I reckon you should collect 12" figures for realistic movie collectibles & 3-7" for comics & cartoon collectibles in my opinion. Which is awesome btw.

My collecting life pretty much followed the same route as many of you.

I started off with action figures from a variety of different lines, like Marvel, Halo, the Simpsons and so on. Once I got into 12-inchers, however, I pretty much sold all my action figures and put the rest in deep storage.

Since then, I've "graduated" to the next stage of the collecting cycle - pre-posed statues and busts. Now, even the 1:6 figures look toy-like in comparison to my PFs, so I'm actually concentrating solely on PFs and statues from now on. Unless, of course, Sideshow decides to release another 12-inch zombie figure.

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHa....I NEVER thought I would leave the smaller scales...I actually use to make fun of you larger scale guys and say that you guys played with "barbies"...SMH...it is now I who plays with grown up action figures as I refer to....lol...what is REALLY sad is that I traded something for a mark III just this past December, marking my first Hot toys figure...and now in mid April....I am on hot toys figure number 22...it sucks that I am a predator/terminator/marvel fan cause they are robbing me CLEAN!!!!...lol...yes...I have become a HT Whore....:-/

I'm going through the same thing right now. Getting rid of all my 6". Still have some out and buy them occasionally, but they're slowly going away and being replaced with Hot Toys and statues. For the first time in years I don't have an urge to buy every Marvel and DC figure I see.

Corrected.

Yup, I did that several months ago. After buying display and lights for my 1/6, I just knew that most of my 7" figures would never get displayed so I gave them to my friends at works and some took them for their kids. I only kept a couple that I really love and put them on my desk at work as I wont bring my HT there in fear of getting stolen.

HT has completely raised the bar and yes, the fun is finding that perfect pose. I currently also got hit with the PF bug so I'll have 3 soon but I'll still only collect mainly 1/6.

Just a question: Have you seen Hot Toys figures?

I'm in the same boat as you, but I was collecting mostly comics, Star Wars POTF, and G.I. Joe 25th. I stopped collecting comics and SW around '98 and basically stopped collecting anything for awhile.

Then I decided once I got my bonus room it could use some replicas and that was all I was going to collect....high end stuff. I had no idea at the time what Sideshow or Hot Toys was.

I then slowly started to pick up the 25th Joe stuff as I was a HUGE Joe fan growing up. Over the next couple of months all of a sudden I had something like 60 figures which included some of the animated Batman stuff as well as I was watching that series.

Around December of last year I got my DX Joker and there was no turning back. One day I just looked at all my Joe figures and Batman stuff and decided to part with most of it. My comics and SW stuff was all in storage and I'd moved it from 3 different houses by then.

I kept my SE's and SS stuff, and a few Batman things but the rest has been sold on Ebay. It actually all went quite well. Sold all the SW POTF stuff I had, most all of my comics, G.I. Joe and the Batman stuff is on there right now. Gave me some nice funds to beef up my new 1/6 collection and statues I wanted.

I'm not looking back and I don't miss ANY of the stuff I've sold! I have all my stuff up in my game room now and whenever I'm in there playing my Xbox 360 and I see it...it just makes me feel like a huge weight has been lifted by selling all that JUNK IMO.

Is this a bad sign?
Less is more. Ditch the cheap kid's ____ and just have a handful of adult collectibles.

Doesn't work that way, anyways I collect everything... so meh.

It does if I say it does.

I hate elitism.

Elitism is the belief or attitude that some individuals who supposedly form an elite — a select group of people with, intellect, wealth, specialized training or experience, or other distinctive attributes — are those whose views on a matter are to be taken the most seriously or carry the most weight or those who view their own views as so; whose views and/or actions are most likely to be constructive to society as a whole; or whose extraordinary skills, abilities or wisdom render them especially fit to govern.
