You are done for then my friend! Way beyond help...

Same story here, I used to collect 6 inch scale, wwf classics, simpsons, pretty much anything and everything that looked good. Once I saw the Hot Toys line taking off i decided to stick with 1/6 and purge myself of my 6 inch collection. Getting rid of all that clutter (hundreds of figures) was like a huge weight off my shoulders and I promised myself that I'd only get a few characters and thought I wouldn't buy too many since they cost so much, but I couldn't resist. I started accumulating a lot of 1/6 figures and fell down the slippery slope that is customs. Very bad indeed...

I believe whoever in this forum does start with 6-7" figures before moving up the food chain :D Once you start, you'll find it hard to resist. What with all the great offering Hot toys, sideshow, eterbay has in store...get ready your plastic, because its gonna be a downhill journey from there :maul

I'm gonna be broke by the end of the year

I just keep my MOTU and GI JOE's MOC this saves me from pitching them in the future, display them on pegs and your good to go.

Other than that though I don't near a 1/6 figure unles.... Thundercats are made from Mattel :naughty

Yeah I can understand this and I did it with some of my Joe stuff from the 25th line. I kept my SE's and SS stuff, all their comic pack figures, and a MOC Firefly.

The MOTUC line is sweet but I never pulled the trigger there and I'm glad...need the mula for other stuff. However, if Thundercats gets redone....oh man, I might be in some trouble there.

:horror

Just a question: Have you seen Hot Toys figures?

Don't get me wrong - Hot Toys are the Cadillacs of 1:6, but there's no denying that displayed next to a PF, they still look toy-like. Maybe it's the visible articulation at the neck or wrists, or the fact that no company has yet to create material that fits and hangs perfectly in 1:6 scale, but I feel that 1:4 better captures those elements that make a piece look realistic.

That still hasn't stopped me from buying all the Hot Toys Iron Man armors, but if they ever released Iron Man PFs, then I'd most likely sell my 1:6 figures in favour of the larger, non-poseable statues. To each his own, I guess.

The only reason my 6 and 7 inch stuff hasn't gone into storage to be replaced by 12 inch stuff is that I have 2 big bookshelves in my room that won't hold 12 inch stuff. The shelves are only 11 inches apart so I am constantly putting up shelves for my 12 inch stuff and still displaying my 6 and 7 inch stuff even though it doesn't interest me anymore.

You make good points. I may start with PF some day. :)

The ultimate would be if Hot Toys would start making 1/4 scale figures with the same articulation as the 1/6 stuff.

Actually... why hasn't this been done yet? :idea

Seems like Sideshow could do it too.

Again, I like toys and I freely admit it. I'm probably one of the oldest guys here. Personally I think statues are for guys who are embarrassed to love action figures and so they tell themselves statues are ok, the chicks won't laugh at statues. :lol

I proudly display my figures in my own living room. Nobody gives me crap because they know I'm mature and that I will win any argument they put forth as to why I shouldn't buy them. Thinking that adults shouldn't buy toys is just one the many things our society has decided on for no logical reason whatsoever. There hasn't been a male friend of mine come threw my place that didn't find my stuff cool. In other words they'd like to own it too, but it isn't the "grown up" thing to do, they're worried what other people will think. Well, I'm not wired that way, I only care about what I think when it come to my home, property and money.

I am assuming you're not married. My wife is cool enough to let me convert an entire room to display my PF's, 1/6th Joes, and Hot Toys, but if I started moving them into the living room, she would be none to happy. :lol

He only makes a good point if you're after something other then toys. If you don't like toys, then yeah you should be buying statues and not 1/6 scale figures. I'm not looking for 100% realistic little 12 inch plastic people. That would just be creepy. I'm looking for action figures of my favorite characters. Action figures are toys and have visible joints and I accept that.

Statues can not be posed or customized. They are too heavy, too expensive and take up too much space. Try creating a cool display with Han, Luke, Leia and Old Ben statues...not going to happen. All you can do is stick them near eachother (if your shelf can take the weight) and gaze at them all doing their own different thing because they're stuck in whatever pose they were sculpted in. Nort mention how freaken huge they are...it's just obsene. :p

Take those same characters in 1/6 scale action figures and you can do almost ANYTHING with them, individually or as a group, and save a ton of space and money too.

You would be correct. However, when I do get married I'm sure that I'll still be displaying my dozen best in the living room. Hot Toys only of course. :D
