P.S.
Why do people post such large pictures (see previous page)? And no, I'm not going to buy a bigger monitor. Pics don't need to be THAT big. Please consider...

Jeez, why can't you just be grateful that he was considerate enough to take the time and effort to post pics at all ? Besides, you can always...

...buy a bigger monitor.

I much prefer the battle-worn hammer - that's the Museum Replica one? And it has the fully wrapped hilt, which I prefer as well. Wish there was a wall hanging display for it though.

Agreed. I have now owned all 3 versions at one time or another, and overall I think the recent MR battle-worn version is the best. I'm not crazy about the "cracks", though - they look unrealistic, and since when does uru crack anyway?
The Factory-X version was pretty nice, but the handle wrap was poorly executed (looked like a barber pole). The Diamond Select handle I liked even less, as the handle was metal and clearly visible through the incomplete wrap job. The MR version handle wrap is perfect; actually, my ultimate version would be the handle from the MR hammer and the head from either the F-X or DS hammer.
The bases are all pretty unspectacular; I guess the rock base from the MR version would be my favorite, followed by F-X and DS.
One other observation: it would be nice if the person writing the copy on the boxes of these things actually knew what they were writing about. The MR box sleeve back refers to the rock base as being part of "Mount Olympus"; why would a Norse god have a hammer base fashioned from the home of the Greek gods ?

I thought they were more just imperfections in the metal from when the hammer was forged by the dwarves. I think it gives it more character, like the battle damage scratches.

That's pretty bad - or perhaps Thor was visiting his friend Hercules and accidentally left the hammer lying about?

I am grateful. It's just harder to compare side by side pics when they are SO big and you need to scroll. They don't need to be THAT big. Just a thought; I'm not doggin' anyone here and I appreciate when people post pics.

And I'll buy a bigger monitor right after you buy eyeglasses!:rotfl:D

I've been reading some of the recent TB of Thor and really getting into the character. Bad timing to post about this hammer - I had to order it.

:lol

You won't regret it; even though I don't particularly care for the cracks on the head, it's still easily the best of the three versions produced so far. I got mine for $280 shipped from Tales of Wonder (it was listed at $299, I got a 10% discount plus shipping was only about $10). I just checked, and they no longer have it listed, however. I think it retails for $399 at Sideshow, hopefully you were able to do better than that though.
In addition to the hammer, I also own both the WWII and Classic Captain America Shields and the recently released Green Lantern ring and lantern/battery. I hope to be able to display them some day in a comic room, along with my Marvel PFs and DC Museum statues and my Marvel Masterworks, DC Archives and other HCs.
