Believe me brother, i'm trying....
I just saw a damaged one FOR $800! For me that's lunacy! Damaged but still that price, what was that person smoking I ask?!?
My budget is max $500 for a undamaged (but doesn't have to be "mint" or "unopened") Red-Gold IM (doesn't have to be Exc) and while i'm well aware that i'm at the bottom end of what they're going for, like you said in your advise, I'm hoping that I'm lucky and fortunate to benefit from this economy (I think that's what you meant)!
But $800 for a damaged one, give me a break....please.

Depending on how mild the damage is, that could be pretty reasonable. A broken exclusive just brought 1k and I sold mine for a couple hundred less than that.
I recently got lucky and scored a mint exclusive. All it took was a faux bronze hulk that I paid $450 shipped for. You just have to keep looking and ask around.

It's hard to describe but until I fulfill my desire of wanting the Red-Gold IM and Hulk PF for my collection, I won't rest, be happy or feel satisfied.
And now i'm even hooked on the Bowen Juggernaut and Hulk vs Spidey after I saw them in Squider's collection, they look sweet!
These pieces availability isn't the problem, all 4 that I mentioned are on Ebay at this very moment.
It's the chase for the good deal that makes it very difficult.

That's what I'm doing. 100x better IMO! Mark 3 IM AND it has a light up feature?!?!?! Sha! That's just too much IM goodness for a collector But I hear ya on finding these at a good price. The hulk has been going for REALLY cheap lately, so you should snag one now if you can

The SIM lights up but not the Red-Gold, I didn't know that!
Can a SIM be painted Mark 3 and umm...look good? Any pictures of one that has been done?
DarkArtist81 is fixing my Wolverine Head but I also hear that he's converting a SIM into a Red-Gold, can't wait to see the result?
Umm, what's your definition of REALLY cheap? I've seen them today on the bay for $750, is that REALLY cheap?

I saw a Hulk just end at $495 shipped!!! (but no box 
) SIM's seem to have dropped in price (going for around $450-500ish) and I bought mine for $700 a couple months ago......

I just received my Thor PF yesterday and I have to say it's my favorite PF. Even if your not a Thor fan you still cannot deny how awesome this PF is in person. It's true that the pictures do not do it justice at all. It's not an exclusive but then again who cares. Beard or no beard he's awesome. I will never sell this.

Going off subject really quick but how does Green Hulk PF shipped, near mint but no box for $494 sound to everyone?
Are you the winner of the latest eBay auctions for a Hulk PF??? That's pretty darn cheap, at least for what they've been going for within the last few months............ BUT the NO BOX detail would make me SOO SOO nervous. I wouldn't do it, personally. That PF is SUPER heavy! So I find it hard to believe that it won't get scuffed up in shipping

I might have to go with another Hulk PF, $590 shipped with all the original boxes intact.

My Personal Reasons:
1. Possible damage during shipping - scratches, etc
2. Most collectors like to own pristine/mint condition with boxes.
3. More difficult for the owner to sell it down the road.
If any statue is less than half price of the original price without the box, then I might bite it since my plan is to keep it until I die. No way I'll pay original price without the original box.
