They say it's for flashbacks. I say it's a reboot of everything post-phase-one.

Why? Dem people paid to laugh while eatin' poopcorn, not to gasp at underplayed dramatic moments.

Maybe or Strange uses time travel...

In any case look for reshoots soon on IW to inject more Thor 3 "humor"

I saw it this weekend, I thought it was great! This is Thor's best film and Taiki Waiti is on fire right now. I need to see Hunt for the Wilderpeople now. This Thor film is pretty much What we do in the Shadows meets Thor, quippy dialog, funny characters and just a good time. Some stand out moments for me

I was falling for 30 MINUTES!

Hulk and Thor fight - and Lokis reactions

Point Break

People can still see your face,
not if I do this (covers face)

Immigrant Song

Korg - pretty much all of his lines

Mark Ruffalo face planting on the rainbow bridge

Hela

There's more but there's to much I liked about this film to remember all of them. If there's nothing coming out this weekend I'll probably see this again. It might be up there with some of my favorite marvel films. I think I might have liked this more than Spiderman Homingcoming, we'll see, I need to see both again to really decide.

Right, but in the writing process it should have clicked that three pretty major side characters were killed off rather unceremoniously and the 4th was going to be left out without mention. That should have been written in a way that Thor could encounter that kids and still propel his fury with Hela.

The way the final film was written left no room for that and that is a flaw of the final product. It definitely should gave driven the character once he arrived on asgard. Hela should have flaunted it. Obviously they were the three most decorated people she killed she knew they held high positions. Nobody would gave batted an eye if she taunted Thor with the deaths of important Asgardians even if she didn't know they were his bffs.

I agree even at PG-13 they should’ve had the Warrior 3 heads on spikes on the bifrost to greet Thor lol

Now that's what this movie was missing! But in seriousness...

They deserved WAY better than that. At least they allowed Hogun a respectable albeit quick scrap with Hela. But the way that should have played out was with all of them triple teaming her with a good fight sequence where they could have been dispatched properly. 30-45 secinds seconds would've been more than sufficient. I would've much rathered weighty scenes get the extra time they deserved, and 5-7 minutes less of shenanigans and horse crap in this movie

Thank God Taika didn't feel the urge to put a clown nose on Heimdall too, and allowed his integrity to remain intact

The fact that so many characters were killed so casually makes me feel they'll be back after infinity war. I still wish they would have included Balder in this movie. Isn't he Hela's boyfriend or something?

I saw this Thursday night in Imax. As a huge Thor fan, I was skeptical about liking this after hearing about all the humor, but I did overall enjoy it. The good far outweighed the bad in my opinion. I do think it could've been better if it had a more serious tone due to the circumstances and overall plot of the story. Most of the humor was very unnecessary, but some of it was also very entertaining and perfectly timed. The opening scene really had me worried as the humor of him spinning while chained was dumb considering the seriousness of the scene, but his fight with Surtur and his use of Mjolnir was some of the best we've seen of Thor in the MCU. For me the fight scene made up for the dumb dialogue.

At least Thor was properly portrayed in this movie, showing how strong and powerful he truly is. I am still very annoyed about the destruction of his hammer and how easy it was for Hela, but I guess it was needed to further his growth to show his godlike powers are not derived from Mjolnir but are part of him. And the hammer was just a conduit for him to learn control. At least some of this was spot on from the comics, while other things were far off. I just hope Mjolnir returns somehow in the future.

The main thing I was surprised at was
We did not see the soul stone at all. I am actually rather happy with this, as all 3 rumors were terrible and I'm glad to find all 3 were indeed false. For those unsure, 1 - His hammer contained the soul stone as to explain his connection and how he mentally controlled it and that is why Hela destroyed it. 2 - Odin contained it and wore it in his eye socket behind his eye patch. And 3 - Heimdal possessed it thus explaining his ability to see every soul in the universe. I'm curious as to where it is, and do hope it's not in Black Panther, but rather a surprise in Avengers 3 Infinity War.

It's not an eyebrow.

The ridiculous banter and chain spinning silliness of that part highly annoyed me. But the masses seem to be loving it as both times I felt like the whole theater was in tears and I was the only grump shaking my head.

I will say that the "It's my biiiirthdaaayyyy" firework show did hit my funny bone last time though

I can totally jump onboard with your review although I felt his interaction with Surtur was actually the BEST comedic moment of the movie for me because it created more tension than had the scene been played straight. I think him spinning on the chain was trolling Surtur and trying his patience.

I loved the scene of him flying over Asgard, spectacular!

He needs his hammer back I hate sword using Thor yuck.

You know why I have no problem with how the Warriors 3 were quickly dispatched off to Valhalla and why there wasn’t a ceremony to honor their sacrifices.

Because many of histories greatest warriors going back thousands of years have met the same fate and that continues today.

You name the war or conflict and i’ll show you a respected warrior who was instantaneously killed without ever having the chance of retaliation or being honored in a timely manner.

We complain that we want realism but then when a superior villain instantaneously kills off a few respected warriors just like in a real conflict we complain that it happened too fast and the characters were disrespected.

Guess what...Bad **** happens to good people.

Thor arrived at a world under siege sorry that there was no time for a 2 hour viking funeral for his closest pals.

Welcome to war, death happens rather quickly sometimes.

"I left [Thor: Ragnarok] shooting in Australia early, because they flew me to Atlanta to help out [Avengers: Infinity War] screenwriters Christopher] Markus and [Stephen] McFeely with Infinity War and untitled Avengers 4, which was totally awesome," Pearson told The Hollywood Reporter. "I cannot say how excited I am and what an amazing job those guys are doing. I think they were just so crammed for time there, and I'd worked with them previously on Agent Carter, and just from being in Marvel, we knew each other. So I think they were comfortable with me coming in and whenever they are working on one, I was kind of keeping the other one moving forward. I do know what's going on there, but I am terrified to say anything. Part of the reason we got sent over there is Ragnarok was so different than the other two, Hemsworth especially wanted to keep that continuity going for his character and his arc. I think also for [Mark] Ruffalo and Hulk, the stuff going on for them in the next two movies is some of my favorite."

Weeelll *gloomily* reading this for me was kinda irritating. 'Coz I sort of viewed Ragnarok as this sort of side jog as the "real" IW build-up had been handed over to BP, apparently. As in "stakes" and a gathering darkness and all that. Gonna be gut-wrenching:horror! And the Russos would rein in Hemsworth after the bro-cation.

I dunno why Hemsworth *seems* to be getting catered to. Who cares what Hemsworth wants? - within reason, sure, but at the end of the day it's what the director and studio wants. Which hopefully is what a lot of paying fans want. (Downey, well, OK, he's Iron Man. Don't think anyone has a personality quite like that). I figured there'd be some humor - there always is - but guess I gotta keep on trusting the Russos that IWs aren't gonna be a joke-fest just because Ragnarok (which I loved) was really successful. Can't think they don't know that's not what's wanted for IW.
